Phoenix police say a man was killed on New Year's Eve after being accidentally shot by his sister, who was playing with a gun while the two were posing for photos.

Judging by the previous photo to the right of now-deceased 22-year-old Manuel Ortiz, this situation is not incredibly hard to believe.

Alleged "South Side Chandler" gangster Josiah Weisman, apparently known on the streets as "Baby Jo," did not have an incredibly gangsta day on Friday.

MCSO: Gangster Was Planning to "Publicly Assassinate" Joe Arpaio, but Didn't Have the $1,800 to Get Out of Jail

MCSO says this guy, Samuel Matta, planned to use a rifle to kill Joe Arpaio in public.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office claims a gang member was "planning to publicly assassinate Sheriff Joe Arpaio using a high powered rifle."

The first problem with the plot of gangster Samuel Matta was that he couldn't come up with the $1,800 to bond out of jail after he stole a car and tried to run from the cops.

Matta's second problem is that he was just sentenced in May to more than eight years in prison on the charges, so he'll be locked up in Florence for a bit.

Antoin Thurman, Retired Pimp, Survives Being Shot by as Many as Four Cops

Antoin Thurman
Glendale resident Antoin Thurman -- a man who once made an educational video describing his prostitute-management skills (more on that later) -- was booked into jail Friday night after surviving gunshots from as many as four police officers.

Thurman, 26, was allegedly in a domestic-violence situation with a woman on April 1, and took off running before police arrived.

Police spotted Thurman running near 47th Avenue and Bethany Home Road, and ran after him -- until police say Thurman turned around and pointed a gun at them.

Four Glendale police officers responded to that gesture by shooting at Thurman, and at least one of those bullets landed him in critical condition at the hospital.

Thurman was cleared by the hospital late Friday, and was taken straight to jail.

Larry Lee Thompson's Girlfriend Dissed Him in Front Of His Friends -- So He Stabbed Her 16 Times

Larry Lee Thompson
Larry Lee Thompson, a transient ex-con with a long history of domestic violence, felt that his 48-year-old girlfriend got a little lippy with him last night as the two were hanging out on the streets of Phoenix. So he stabbed her 16 times.

It should be noted that last night was the second time Thompson stabbed the victim in the last 30 days -- she apparently "disrespected" him last month, too.

According to court records obtained by New Times, police were called to the 700 block of West Madison Street about 11 p.m. yesterday after someone called 9-1-1 to report a stabbing.

When police arrived, they found Thompson's girlfriend -- who is also homeless -- bleeding on the sidewalk.
