Gilbert High Schooler's "Toy Rifle" Causes Lock-Down Hours After Sandy Hook Massacre

williams-field-high.jpg
If you had to pick the absolute worst day in American history to bring anything resembling a weapon near a school, that day would have been Friday, December 14, 2012.

Hours after 26 people -- including 20 children -- were shot to death at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, a Gilbert parent called police after he thought he saw a student with a rifle walking on the campus of Williams Field High School.

UPDATE: Daniel Solomon has a fractured pelvis, torn artery, and may be permanently disfigured. Read the update here.

Mesa resident Holly Solomon thinks it's her husband's fault that President Obama was re-elected last week, because he didn't vote.

Not only does Solomon, 28, have a thorough misunderstanding of our nation's electoral system, she also ran over her husband with her car because of this, according to Gilbert police.

Roger Forney
Former Arizona Department of Public Safety officer Roger Forney did not do such a good job getting rid of his alleged collection of child porn depicting boys "in bondage and sexual torture situations," according to details laid out by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Forney's first problem was that he decided to throw out his mail -- with his name on it -- in the garbage when he decided to get rid of his alleged child-porn stash.

Brian Fortner, alleged duffel-bag owner.
How could the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office possibly track down the owner of a duffel bag full of kiddie porn that was tossed in a dumpster in the Northwest Valley?

In 27-year-old Brian Fortner's case, investigators probably just had to look at his driver's license -- which he allegedly left in the duffel bag full of kiddie porn.

Cody Slaughter, the Honest Abe of alleged deviant sexual behavior.
Cody Slaughter seems like a pretty honest guy, as he offered up some personal information about his personal history in a job interview last week.

Slaughter may have been a little too honest during his interview with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, as the cops say he admitted to the agency that he'd molested a 2-year-old and had sex with animals on a few occasions.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office says it got a call from CBP on July 2, relaying information about "possible criminal activity disclosed during a pre-employment screening."

Phoenix Man Gets In Head-on Collision, Killing 5-Year-Old; Cops Think Alcohol May Have Been a Factor in 8 a.m. Crash

Unfortunately, it looks like yesterday's crash in Phoenix is leading to all three.
If Phoenix police are right on this one, then just about nothing was appropriate inside the sedan that crashed head-on into a Chevrolet truck Monday morning.

Police say a 5-year-old boy in the sedan died in the crash, as cops believe the boy not only was not restrained by a car seat, but wasn't wearing a seat belt at all. And he possibly was in the front seat of the car, too.

To make matters worse, Phoenix police say, the sedan's driver, a 19-year-old man, did not have a driver's license, and alcohol impairment is suspected in the 8 a.m. crash.

In fact, police say none of the three occupants of the sedan was wearing a seat belt, leaving all three injured or worse.

Five-year-old Angel Alvarez died, and his 21-year-old mother sustained "serious injuries" in the crash.

Fan of Tempe Mayoral Candidate Michael Monti Lets the World Know He Plans on Ripping Down Opponent's Signs

Here's a tip: If you're planning on doing something that may be a crime, don't tell the state's largest paper before doing so.

Apparently our tip is a little late, as it would seem that a fan of Tempe mayoral candidate Michael Monti did that yesterday.

Legislative District 17 Republicans chairman A.J. LaFaro told the Arizona Republic yesterday that he doesn't think signs from a firefighters union endorsing Monti's opponent, Mark Mitchell, are legal.

Therefore, LaFaro informed the Republic, he's rounding up some folks to take them down.

In case you're wondering, taking down campaign signs belonging to someone else is illegal in most cases.
