The El Mirage man who stabbed his 76-year-old father to death in April was sentenced today to 16 years in prison, as part of a plea agreement.

Albert Arias had told police shortly after the stabbing that he had been "abused by his father his whole life," and Arias, 47, also told the cops he had been living with his parents for the last 15 years.

Albert Arias pleaded not guilty today to the murder of his father -- a killing police discovered after Arias allegedly went to the police station and told several people he'd done it.

Arias is actually the second person to allegedly pull this move in just over a month -- Kevin Skinner, a 22-year-old Phoenix resident, allegedly called the cops in March to let them know he'd just murdered his mother by suffocating her with a grocery bag. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment as well.

In Arias' case, police say he popped into the El Mirage police station -- about a quarter-mile from his house -- on the afternoon of April 5, informing the staff at the office that he'd just stabbed his father, and saying his father needed help.

A police officer came to the lobby to talk to Arias -- who still had blood on his arms -- and told the officer numerous times that he stabbed his father, 76-year-old Pete Arias, who was eventually pronounced dead at a hospital.
