Regardless of political affiliation, people across the country are pissed off about one thing or another, but there are only a few cities that -- as a whole -- are more pissed off than Phoenix, according to a recent ranking of pissed off cities.

The Daily Beast website has ranked Phoenix one of "America's 10 Angriest Cities" based on the number of protesters who showed up during the "Occupy Phoenix" demonstration and the  demonstrators who attended a 2009 Tea Party rally.

See our coverage of the "Occupy Phoenix" rally here.

Phoenix, according to the rankings, is the sixth angriest city in the country.

Occupy Phoenix FAIL: 46 "Occupiers" Arrested. Fed Still Exists; Corporate Greed Rampant

Piggy: now an adjective.
The "Occupy Phoenix" protest against corporate greed, the Fed, the government, the banks, politicians, lobbyists, "the corporations" (etc., etc., etc.), has come to an end.

(Ahem) Shockingly, nothing's really changed -- the Fed still exists, lobbyists still are lobbying, and "the corporations" are still in the business of making money.

A few things changed for some of Phoenix's "99-percent-ers," though -- aside from spending a full day sweatin' it out in Cesar Chavez Plaza, 46 of them have been hit with misdemeanor trespassing charges after refusing to leave a public park after it closed.

Occupy Phoenix: Banks Are Evil, the Government's Evil, and Jan Brewer's a "Lying Whore" With Alzheimer's

Way to keep things classy, Phoenix occupiers.
"Legalize Marijuana. Gov. Brewer Has Alzheimers (sic). Lying Whore."

That's what was written on the protest sign that welcomed us to the "Occupy Phoenix" demonstration in downtown Phoenix this afternoon -- and at least that sign was spelled correctly (almost).

There were hippies, teachers, communists, anarchists, stoners, militant black guys, people dressed as cows, people dressed as cops, people with guns, and they all have one thing in common: They're mad as hell, and they're not gonna take it anymore.

What Phoenix's occupiers are mad about varies, depending on whom you ask.

Occupy Phoenix's "Pre-Occupation March": No Arrests, No Mayhem, No Cause

The "pre-occupation" of downtown Phoenix kicked off tonight with a march from the downtown Civic Space to Caesar Chavez Plaza -- and it apparently was pretty lame.

Phoenix Police Department Sergeant Trent Crump tells New Times there were no arrests, no mayhem, and nothing that will do anything to promote any sort of social change. Just a bunch of pissed-off protesters carrying signs -- and carrying on.

Occupy Phoenix's "Pre-Occupation March" Kicks Off at 3 p.m. -- Dress Code Non-Existent

Hundreds of angry protesters are expected in downtown Phoenix this afternoon to march from the downtown Civic Space to Cesar Chavez Plaza as the precursor to tomorrow's scheduled "Occupy Phoenix" demonstration.

However, "THIS IS NOT THE OCCUPATION," the group behind the "Occupy Phoenix" movement says.

Today's march, scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m., is the "pre-occupation," according to the occupiers.

Following the short march, the Haymarket Squares will be playing live at Cesar Chavez Plaza. Then, organizers plan to gather on the corner of 2nd Street and Van Buren Street to serve as the backdrop to Channel 12's 5 p.m. newscast.

If you've seen any of the coverage of the "Occupy Wall Street" movement, you know the "occupiers" aren't seen as the ideal voices for social change -- they've been described as drugged-out, pissed-off hippies who are just looking for an excuse to pretend it's 1968.

Phoenix's occupation seems like it's on a similar track.

"Occupy Phoenix" Planned for October 15; Protest Movement Spreading Across Country

Categories: Occupy _____

They're pissed off at American greed and social injustice. They're relatively leaderless but well connected through social media. And they're gonna Occupy Phoenix on October 15.

The "Occupy Wall Street" movement that led to 700 or so arrests in New York City over the weekend is catching like wildfire, with more left-leaning protests planned for major cities in the upcoming days and weeks. Crowds began camping outside Los Angeles City Hall on Saturday.

The Phoenix version is ramping up with a Web page, plus info feeds on Facebook and Twitter.

According to the Facebook site, organizers want protesters to "flood into Cesar Chavez Plaza" on October 15. Minutes from a meeting of organizers yesterday, however, seem to indicate the group intends to march to the State Capitol the day before. From the minutes:

26) Start at the capital and end at cesar chavez plaza.

27) End Friday march at 5pm so the news can cover it.
