Puerto Vallarta is a Beautiful, Safe Place! (And Thanks for the Free Trip, Tourism Board!)

The sunset in Puerto Vallarta looks even more amazing when seen at the expense of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board.

Okay, we didn't really take a press junket to Puerto Vallarta.

But we apparently could have, for no more trouble than preparing an assignment letter for the Mexico city's Tourism Board and its PR company, Latititude.

Check out the letter to "journalists" below. Sounds like we can expect to soon read plenty of positive press about Puerto Vallarta.

Paul Babeu: Look at Me! Look at Me! Jan Brewer Stuck Her Finger In My Face, Too!

babeubrewer.jpg
Pinal County Sheriff's Office
Jan Brewer's finger is getting way too much attention these days.

Fox News host/Governor Jan Brewer's BFF Greta Van Susteren broadcasted a photo last night of the governor sticking her finger in the face of Pinal County Sheriff/Congressional candidate Paul Babeu.

Brewer's bestie even hams it up, noting that the governor is an "equal opportunity pointer."

The photo of Babeu, as you can see above, is quite similar to the photo of Brewer sticking her finger in the face of President Barack Obama that went viral last week. More on that here.

Brewer has since whored the photo out to raise money for her political action committee -- and Babeu, in a Joe Arpaio-esque act of perverse media slutiness, issued a press release bragging about his encounter with the business end of Brewer's finger.

"Occupiers'" Anger Shifting From Wall Street to Joe Arpaio, Sheriff's Ego Claims

arpaioattention.jpg
There's good news for Wall Street -- the "occupiers" who have been protesting corporate greed (or whatever it is they're protesting) for the past several months have a new target for their rage: Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

That, of course, is according to the sheriff's bloated ego.

"The 'Occupy Wall Street' movement has turned from a wave of anger towards Wall Street [to a movement] against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio," the sheriff's PR folks say in a press release that just screams "look at me, look at me!"

Arpaio's been trying to cash in on the ink the "occupy" folks have been getting since the demonstration in Phoenix began in October.

For example, earlier this month, Arpaio issued a press release announcing that he wouldn't be giving the "occupiers" additional publicity. Just to clarify, the sheriff issued a press release to announce he wouldn't be giving the "occupiers" additional publicity. More on that here.

Joe Arpaio Issues Press Release to Announce He Won't Give "Occupy Phoenix" Protesters Additional Publicity

arpaiopressrelease.jpg
Interesting headline...for a PRESS RELEASE!
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio issued a press release this afternoon stating that his office will not give "Occupy Phoenix" protesters additional publicity.

That's right -- a press release to announce he doesn't want to help publicize the "Occupy Phoenix" demonstration.

We'll pause for laughter.

Thinking this could have possibly been a mistake -- and not just the sheriff's most recent act of perverse media slutiness -- we sent MCSO spokesman Justin Griffin an e-mail asking the following: "You realize you issued a press release about not wanting to give Occupy Phoenix protesters any publicity, right?"

We haven't heard back.

Is Joe Arpaio Really Thinking About Running for Senate (as if We Even Have to Ask)?

arpaiopink.jpg
This guy's pretending to be considering a Senate run.
Did you hear the one about 79-year-old Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio considering a run for the United States Senate?

That's not a joke -- Arpaio, at 79, really claims to be considering running for the Senate seat getting vacated by Senator Jon Kyl.

Anyone who knows anything about America's self-proclaimed "toughest sheriff" knows he'll do whatever it takes to get his name in the headlines -- including claiming to be considering running for political offices he has no real intention of actually running for.

People in Illinois Can't Stand Joe Arpaio -- and He's Lovin' It

mediawhore.jpg

Most people wouldn't see the fact that their mere presence in a state with nearly 13 million people inspires folks to give up their Saturday to head to a park to basically tell them "hey...I can't stand you" as a good thing.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio isn't most people.

Protesters are expected when America's self-proclaimed "toughest sheriff" appears at a Republican picnic outside of Chicago on Saturday -- and Arpaio's eatin' it up.
