The story of discrimination faced by an Egyptian Muslim couple who once lived in Tempe is a troubling one.

The couple, Soha Abdelrahman and her husband, Hany Ibrahim, were paid $197,500 by the owners of the apartment complex they used to live in, thanks to a settlement negotiated by the office of state Attorney General Tom Horne.

But Abdelrahman says she won't want to talk to New Times about their experience for free.

They're hoping to "be on Oprah" or possibly write a book about their experiences, Abdelrahman says.

"I need to know what I'm going to gain from this, if I told my story," she says after we called to ask her about the ordeal. "I don't want to waste my time without gaining anything."More >>

It's never too early to become a patriot.

We might not be getting pictures of Osama bin Laden's corpse from Barack Obama -- but there's some interesting memorabilia for sale.

The Toronto Star is reporting that T-shirts, greeting cards, and coffee mugs celebrating Bin Laden's death are selling like hotcakes across the globe. One eBay vendor even tried to auction off a "bin Laden tooth" before the sale was unlisted by the company.

A Cafe Press salesman is selling Tees for everyone from the computer nerd in need of a shirt declaring Osama bin Pwned to babies looking for a fashionable and patriotic onesie, like the one pictured above.

Muslims have been selling Bin Laden merchandise throughout the Middle East since the 2001 terrorist attack on America, with street vendors hawking Bin Laden posters and action figures next to Arnold Schwarzenegger "pec development" pinups and glossies of WWE female wrestlers.

There's no accounting for taste.

Someone is about to become the proud owner of a couple of unfinished condo towers in Tempe.

The collection of creditors who own the unfinished Centerpoint condo towers in Tempe haven't decided yet which of several bidders will be the new owner of the foreclosed project, but reportedly will soon.

"I don't have anything to report," Mark Winkleman, chief operating officer for ML Manager, writes in an e-mail at about a quarter to ten this morning. Then, at 10:25: "I will let you know when we have selected a buyer."

We know a winning bid is about to be selected because this week the Arizona Republic's Dianna Nanez has written not one, but two articles to let everyone know it was going to happen. Here's what she said in this morning's edition:

Winkleman told The Arizona Republic on Monday that ML Manager was reviewing three offers and could announce the winning bid as early as Monday night.
