Sun City Man, 78, Accused of Murdering Wife, Said He "Can't Stand Her Any Longer"

A 78-year-old man who lives in the retirement community of Sun City is accused of fatally shooting his wife Wednesday morning.

Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies initially proposed that it could have been a "mercy killing" of a terminally ill spouse, which would be the second one in Sun City in the past year. However, court documents describe a killing that doesn't seem to provide much "mercy" for the victim.

Gangster Shoots, Kills Fellow Gangster With Automatic Rifle in the Middle of Baseline Road

A gang member used an automatic rifle to shoot and kill a member of his own gang in the middle of Baseline Road, police say.

The two alleged gangsters, who had arguments over a woman, were passengers in separate cars on Tuesday morning when 22-year-old Moises Gutierrez grabbed his rifle from the backseat and opened fire on the vehicle behind him, according to police.

Joseph Nicholas Aguilera told police he did not remember punching an elderly homeless man to death in Phoenix on July 11.

Aguilera, a 30-year-old Army veteran, did not deny being the man captured on surveillance footage at a nearby gas station but told police he "did not remember assaulting anyone at that date and time," according to court documents obtained by New Times.

Phoenix police have identified the man investigators believe punched an elderly homeless man to death on July 11.

Joseph Nicholas Aguilera, 30, has been identified in the guy caught on surveillance footage at a convenience store near the scene of the crime and was booked into jail on a second-degree murder charge.

Yet again, a body has been pulled from Tempe Town Lake.

Gerrick Begay, a 21-year-old Tempe resident and former student at the nearby Arizona State University, was found floating in the lake around 5:30 a.m. yesterday.

A 24-year-old Phoenix man beat his 2-year-old son to death with a belt while the child's mother failed to act before her child's death, police say.

Darnell Alvarez, and Davieanna Blake, the child's parents, left their child to die instead of getting medical attention, fearing that Child Protective Services would be called if they took him to the hospital, according to court documents obtained by New Times.

Men Plead Not Guilty in Murders of Phoenix Bail Bondsmen

The man accused of shooting and killing two Phoenix bail bondsmen, as well as the man accused of suggesting that he shoot them, have pleaded not guilty to all the charges against them.

Police said Anthony Giunta got a little scraped up when he was picked up by a pair of Phoenix bail bondsmen for skipping bail, and he urged that his friends and family who were watching the incident shoot the bail bondsmen. Nicholas Malicki, 23, actually murdered the men, according to police.
