Michael Turley, Who Dressed Up Nephew as Terrorist to "Test" Phoenix Cops, Found Guilty

A jury found Michael Turley guilty of charges Monday related to making a movie that was produced to "test" the Phoenix Police Department's response to a terrorist situation.

Turley was arrested in September after it was discovered that he had his teenage nephew wear a sheet on his body and a towel on his head, then run around a Phoenix intersection with a fake rocket-propelled grenade launcher, to see how long it took for the PPD to show up.

Kelly Wasko, one of several Valley women recently arrested for a cancer-faking scheme, will be spending some time in prison.

Wasko, a 41-year-old Gilbert resident, was sentenced this morning to 18 months in prison for collecting donations through Facebook to treat her fake cancer.

Phoenix Mom Who Pulled Knife on Kids for Playing With Christmas Presents Gets Jail Time

The Phoenix mom who spent Christmas '11 choking one of her kids -- and threatening both of her kids with a butcher knife -- was sentenced today to one year in jail.

Jutrina Tillman, who was 32 at the time, had been drinking that Christmas and was mad at her 5-year-old son for playing a video game he'd gotten as a present, court documents said.

Ame Deal Murder: Girl's Dad Is Second Family Member to Plead Guilty to Abuse

The outcomes are now known for charges against three of six family members accused of harming 10-year-old Ame Deal, who was murdered in Phoenix almost two years ago.

Ame's father, David Deal, pleaded guilty this morning to attempted child abuse and possession of marijuana, while the girl's aunt previously pleaded guilty to three charges, and charges were dropped against another family member, Ame's cousin Ammandea Stoltzmann.

Dejuan Donaldson, Three-Time Rapist in South Phoenix, Gets More Than 50 Years in Prison

Dejuan Donaldson, the man accused of raping three girls between the ages of 10 and 17 who were walking to schools in south Phoenix neighborhoods in 2010 and 2011, will be going to prison for a long time.

For the sexual assaults, Donaldson earned himself 51 1/2 years in prison -- and he won't be eligible for early release, according to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

Steven Craig Shiflet, the Mesa resident who admitted to starting the near-18,000-acre Sunflower Fire in the Tonto National Forest last year with an "incendiary shotgun shell," was sentenced Monday to probation.

Shiflet fired the shell during a bachelor party in the desert near Sycamore Creek on May 12, and the fire wasn't contained until July 5.

A Chandler man who claimed he "accidentally" shot his ex-girlfriend in the head with a rifle in 2011 was found guilty yesterday of manslaughter.

Eric Coulter, who was 18 at the time, killed his ex-girlfriend Monique Cota with what the Maricopa County Attorney's Office calls a "military-style assault rifle."

Police described the boys, ages 13 and 14, as "highly intoxicated," as officers discovered them on a June day in their underwear, crying, screaming, and vomiting.

The El Mirage man who stabbed his 76-year-old father to death in April was sentenced today to 16 years in prison, as part of a plea agreement.

Albert Arias had told police shortly after the stabbing that he had been "abused by his father his whole life," and Arias, 47, also told the cops he had been living with his parents for the last 15 years.

Former AAA Taxi driver Gary Gene Mayo actually had a fare in his cab when he began swearing at James Fournier, who was out with his wife and grandchild when he almost hit Mayo's cab with his Kia SUV.
