Russell Pearce Pads His Application to Charles Hoskins for that $85K Job

Do I really want to write one more word about recalled ex-state Senator Russell Pearce?

Not really. But despite being rejected twice in his own district by a margin of 12 points, first in a historic 2011 recall election and then in the Republican primary for state Senate in 2012, he continues to resurface, like a nasty case of political herpes.

Pearce still retains a cult of personality in the state GOP, which Maricopa County Treasurer Charles "Hos" Hoskins is part of. Recently, Hoskins created a job for the man he admires so much with our money, at the rate of $85,000 per year.

Pearce and Ready in 2007: Pearce had been warned about Ready, who was outed as an extremist by the ADL

Hoskins says this is an old position his office had eliminated during a time of cutbacks at the county, though some documents and screenshots released by the county indicate that the position was meant for Pearce.

For example, there's a screenshot showing the creation of the "new position," with the comment, "Please do not post, applicant Russell Pearce completed a ZZZ application 2 days ago."

The hiring is an uncovered, at-will position: essentially, a bit of patronage Hoskins legally can dole out to whomever he wants.

In one e-mail from his deputy Royce Flora, Hoskins is told that the office has just gotten the approval for the creation of an $85,000 job for Pearce.

Flora tells Hoskins the following:

"Just fyi, they really jumped through hoops to get this done. MaryEllen had them prioritize this or it would have been another two weeks before they would even come back with a number."

Read e-mails to and from Treasurer Hoskins regarding his hiring of Pearce.

Interestingly, Flora has donated money to the Arizona Taxpayers Action Committee, an independent expenditure committee that currently sponsors Pearce's Saturday night radio show and backs Pearce's revenge candidate for state Senate in the Legislative District 25 primary, Ralph Heap.

Records filed with the Arizona Secretary of State show that Flora gave $1,900 to ATAC in 2013, and $200 this year, so far, for a total of $2,100.

Maricopa County has spent too much in trying to accommodate the Pearce family.I believe the Harding family filed a multi-million dollar wrongful death lawsuit against Deputy Pearce and the county.

Hos, what the hell were you thinking....you need to resign.  Pearce has lost the trust and confidence of the people of Maricopa County,

The "Hos" must go. He doesn't respect the people who ousted Pearce.

Goodness. How is this legal? It's cronyism. Why do all of the corrupt move to Arizona? I am shocked that Arizona has almost zero ethics laws.

Thank you Maricopa County Treasurer Hoskins for proving once again that in our Corrupt Arizona Government Cess Pool  "Bribe Taking, Election Rigging/Crime" truly does pay!

Please do Arizona Tax Payers a favor "Hos" and RESIGN!

How can this blatant patronage even be legal?

Can the LDS send him on a mission?  This would solve the problem.  Hos, you need to resign.

Wow. Dumb and dumber. It sure seems to me that old Hos has spent too much time on the Ponderosa and not enough time in town.

Pearce continues to be untruthful regardless of documentation.

Deny, deny, deny.

So, who did old Hos offer the job to and have it declined? I doubt that can be validated.

Why is it that people, like Russell Pearce, who rail the most about government waste, taxes and welfare are always on the public dole in one public job or another?

I think the reasonable answer is that Russell Pearce couldn't get a job in the private sector, at least not one that was competitively offered.

Could Jan "Brain Freeze" Brewer get a private sector job?  How about the corrupt State AG?  The move from public job to public job, building up massive pensions and then cry about welfare.

They are the biggest welfare queens around.

Russell Pearce is a GOP welfare case or now we can call him the GOP welfare King? I guess the GOP is against welfare as long as its not a pal in their political party!

Pearce should have been tarred and feathered and ridden out of town on a rail a long time ago. What idiot would hire this moron?

This job creation for Pearce is sickening.

During Pearce's recall election he was caught red handed committing a class five "FELONY" election rigging, and manipulating scheme.

The Mrs. Cortes "Sham" in which corrupt Russell Pearce ran a vote siphon.

At the time of the recall election a Judge reviewed evidence, and stated that there was sufficient evidence of Pearce's involvement  of this CRIMINAL ACTIVITY.

Pearce, his Brother, his two Nieces, the Republican leaders, and Tea Party Officials, Mrs. Cortes and ALL involved in this CRIME should have been charged. Those convicted would have received their just reward of nine months to two years in jail, and Honest Russel as a "FELON" would not be having his dirty pals creating posh Government Positions for him!

Was Charles Hoskin's involved in the "Cortes" Felony Election  rigging too?!

The Election Rigging "Cortes" Felony was a mockery of the U.S. Electoral System.

This "Job Creation" by Hoskin's for his Corrupt pal Russell Pearce is a slap in the face to All Arizona Tax Payers!

That's how these guys raise themselves up by their bootstraps: by letting the county taxpayers support them in pretend jobs.

So Arizonans vote this guy out of office, but now county residents are being forced to give him a nearly $50,000 annual raise?

Before his reversed-priority dishonorable death, J.T. Ready had a little bit more respect from me based on the fact he didn't conceal what he was. If Russell Pearce didn't notice that, or (worse) didn't care, he deserves to bound to Ready's personality for eternity. Arizona needs to hold their elections in a Summer month when less partial-year "Snowbird" John Birchers are there.

Stephen, dont forget his whopper about how "the LDS Church supports his immigration view (1070, etc)" at a town hall meeting he abruptly threw reporters out of after inviting them...fortunately someone had brought a phone in and caught his lies on tape, to which the Church refuted his claim of their support the next day

Who wants to bet that Pearce is trying to salvage his decayed political career with this job at the county?

And what is Hos getting out of this?

I smell something here. I just can't put my finger on it.

Pearce does not belong in any position of trust.

County jobs are supposed to be posted to the public, so they can apply.  I am certain there are many qualified individuals (with actual degrees, who weren't fired from the state), who would have liked to apply for that job.  This screams for a complaint to the EEOC.  As for Pearce, once again, he shows his true colors, sponging off the taxpayers, taking a political favor (Fiesta Bowl anyone) and cheating and stealing.  This bag  of pig shit is not the most qualified individual for this job, and it should be posted, out in the open, just like all other county jobs

I wonder if the Tea Bag Party is going to wage political war for this political patronage welfare of Charlie Ho Hoskins.

Nah, probably not.

They'll probably justify it by saying Obama does the same thing, which he does and for equally wrong reasons.

@MaskedMagician1967 Pearce already has a fat ass pension from the government (MCSO and the legislature).  This would be pension number 3!

He's simply looking to get back in the "spotlight", and Hos bent over and gave Russ a big hole to aim for.

The REAL question is WHY Hos bent over.  What is HE trying to hide?  There is something there, or he would not have created a GOVERNMENT JOB just for this waste of human flesh called Russ!  Will Russ have the "ghost of JT Ready" as his assistant?

My point exactly WK.

Pearce is in charge of the Arizona GOP. Hos is a GOPer.

Pearce is likely preparing to offer Hos a job with the state in exchange for Hos giving Pearce this county job.

Just my opinion though.

Egregious_Philbin
Egregious_Philbin

@CuccuforCoCoPuffs I read the article you mo-tard.  But, I also know how the county's applicant system works.  There is no legal patronage. They posted the job as a way to try to make it look legal, but didn't accept any applications, nor open it to the public.  Something stinks, and an investigation will turn up the usual bullshit that follows this sack of shit.
