John Huppenthal's Top Ten (Alleged) Comments as a Sock Puppet (w/Update)

Hupp's alleged behavior online seems the product of a confirmed narcissist: referring to himself in the third person, praising himself in sock puppet mode, and supposedly polishing and re-polishing his Wikipedia entry.

Reminds me of disgraced, disbarred ex-county attorney Andy Thomas, who also was accused of editing his bio on Wikipedia to his liking.

Similarly, Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne once used a sock puppet to comment on an article of mine relating to his mistress, a fact revealed during an internal investigation of his office.

Thus, Hupp is hardly alone in his sock puppetry. As for the content of his comments, it's generally standard right-wing stuff, though he often veers into serious moon-howler territory, as you'll see below.

There could be a problem with him posting some (though not all) of his comments via the IP address for the Arizona Department of Education, which is evident from the information that Bob Lord has provided me.

Campaigning for himself from an ADE computer, for instance, would be a big no-no.

Otherwise, what matters -- whether said under the guise of a sock puppet or as himself -- is what the fella has to say.

So here are Huppenthal's top ten comments under one of his sock puppet handles, at least from those I've seen.

And believe me, there are so many out there, I think I could read a Russian novel quicker. Which makes you wonder what we pay the guy for, if he has this much free time on his hands.

10) Regarding the mystery of "Caucasian job creation"

http://blogforarizona.net/it-is-past-time-to-look-beyond-tax-cuts-as-an-economic-development-strategy/#comment-36253

On April 9, 2014 at 11:19 pm Thucydides said:

But, economics are completely different story. A job taken by an hispanic immigrant doesnt take a job from a caucasian, it creates a job for a caucasian. Caucasian job creation is very positively correlated with immigrant employment, not negatively correlated as conservatives have heard over and over.

I have  been an early childhood educator for 30 years and it saddens and disgust me to see someone like Hupperthal claim to know what is best for children. When was the last time he spent 8 hours in a classroom full of 5 years olds by himself.  Has he ever comforted a child who has been mistreated at home? Fed breakfast to a hungry child because there was no one home to deed him? Followed the school bus on the first day of school to ensure your students get home safely? Modified and instructed the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of 25 five year olds?  He does not possess the knowledge or compassion to monitor our schools. And after 25 years in PUSD, I am sure Diane Douglas in not fully educated about the common core. Her priorities were never the teacher or children.......

Hay, Hup?  How safe are our students test scores? Is NSA up your wazoo?

Why not?

I used to think it was impossible to cross over and depose an icehole in his own primary.  But leave it to Mississippi to show us the way, AZ!!

Heard you, Miss!  Miss Mesa sent Pearce packing with a righteous recoiling recall, so AZ hasn't rolled over, yet.  I will vote for Hupp's GOP opponent, and then let the Dems have at that lunatic.

Tell me why I should hate the Common Core, again?   Sounds like a great way to sell Apples.  Testing 1, 2, 3...

Folks, have we forgotten Arden's spa network was investigated for harboring nazis and one of the American Liberty League's biggest material supporters was AZ's biggest mining mogulet?  Her auntie sold Elizabeth that Scottsdale Red Door. Great place to hide the main chance.  Plutoids, they just can't leave good enough alone.

Hup, I knew you would out yourself, too.  OMG, that stinking smell of Tabu!  PU!!

Croix de Feu and pass the matches!  Fascism is an AZ tradition!

The GOP is sure looking shabby what with this man and Horne making a mockery of their missions.  Hup has the minds of the state's future in his putty little hands but he can't even muster a good Goebbles?  He's both a social fraud and fascist failure. Way to flame out from both sides, Hup.

I've known John a long time along the full arc of this career professionally and politically. While I don't agree with a great deal of his politics - for example, chastising him for unnecessarily seeking Apario and Pearce endorsements while 40+% in the polls - he is someone I admire for his fierce intellectual curiousity, his absolute devotion to improving educational outcomes ( his passion since he was a city councilman ), and the incredible amount of his personal life he sacrifices to his responsibilities. While he is fiercely competitive and does need to win his campaigns and "battles" and win decisively, I'm not certain he actually loves politics for politics sake. Rather, he dearly loves the job he is elected to do. If you don't agree with his strategies, you should admire commitment. He is no Tom Horne. Comparing him is an affront.

Yes, he does get "out of his headlights" sometimes on his opinion. But in the end, he's the guy you'd want in a foxhole with you.

Didn't Hitler become Chancellor over a month before Roosevelt took office? Or is Huppenthal's point that FDR slipped into Germany and set the Reichstag fire while awaiting his inauguration?

This might be a good time to reflect on the fact that John Huppenthal is unfit for public office.

...and yet Arizonans keep electing these maniacal, fact-deprived, conspiracy-theorized, radical right wing fools. At what point do we change the name of our state to Dumbf*ckistan?

Hupp waited until he could get his chief of staff to tell him how to POLISH THAT TURD before he would admit it... even though he knew he was fried.

sane people are running business and raising familys and paying taxes to keep the lazy neandrethal(i meant huppenthal) politicans in office to rule over us!

no normal person would hold an elected office!

This could be a continuing series; an alarming number of the men who rule us now are essentially cranks who, even when elevated to high office, are most comfortable  fulminating under online pseudonyms or in angry letters to the editor. My favorite: the county assessor--a banal suburban political hack--whose sock puppets cast him as some kind of Nietzschean overman, dismissive of the masses, liberal democracy, and the mediocrity around him. Irony is foreign to these schmucks.

How can Huppenthal even hold down a job outside of maybe a sheltered workshop? The man is bat shit crazy.

Whatcha bet Huppenthal's got a portrait of Francisco Franco on his office wall? This guy's a delusional, far, far-right winger. if he'd been born in Spain he would have been a falangist and requete.

mikefrombisbee

Huppenthal is a cardboard cutout, a one-dimensional personality who is on a Mission From God to destroy public education and replace it with a system of vouchers and charter schools. He never spent a day in public school as a child growing up in Tucson - a fact that his staff only grudgingly acknowledges. AZ voters should be ashamed of themselves for voting for this hypocritical catholic right-winger who would be more than happy to destroy the public education system he was elected to administer. First Horne, now this loser.

When Hoppie first ran for state office, let's not forget that he set up his computer to robo-call people, but didn't understand the difference between AM and PM, and started calling people at 1am!  Would any sane person consider a fool like this qualified to teach your kids?

"This" career?  Not his career?  You've had a hand in managing it, and others, I assume from your choice of words.  Nice work.  I had no idea what an icehole he could be, and we've corresponded heatedly.  I must say I prefer the fake John to the real one.  I even felt sorry for his lame arse.

Not anymore.  Did we just deny kids materials for several years to insure he can't be accused of enjoying free rides to Rio?  What must kids suffer so he looks proper?

I'm not sold on crook's books either, but I didn't get to travel the globe and then not pay for it.

Why can't you tell us who your really are.  I won't shame you for being ashamed to say your name and his in the same post. But I hear you are the same man, and that is such a shame. You probably just work for the man, like Education Minister Gove's on-line whackers in the UK.

Sorry, this GOP investment is going down like Hindenburg.  Can you remember who that was aside from a flaming airship?  Come on, any real student of Hitler can tell!  The president he got out of his way on the way to supreme leader!  Sacre Bleu, don't you know your fascism 102?

@Clyde Nice "sock puppet" try. Not in my foxhole, Huppenthal. You're a right-wing Catholic zealot on a mission from God to dismantle public education. And you've been exposing your true self on the Internet for four years in the false belief that you could get away with it. Your blatant racism and total lack of understanding about the people in whose proximity you grew up says volumes about the deliberate narrowness of your education. I really enjoyed the whiny press conference today. Getting caught in the act is a bitch, isn't it? You committed political suicide and are too much the true believer to comprehend it.

MY guess, Guest, is he's mustering over that schnitzel of a lie that socialism was not the proper response to economic distress caused by wanton recklessness.  He would argue one can always put a military on credit and then hold your creditors and own people hostage to some whack job ideal.

You have to forgive me, I just figured out the church bells that made my mother mad were built for Hitler's Reich in 1935. Seriously, they had to paint over the interior walls of that place in '45 to hide the Aryan Christ taken in bondage to the Holy Land.  Holey Shite! The Clack we had to put up put wit to survive and here it is waiting for us back at home in another fraud's woodenshoes.

@arizonaeagletarian

That's risky, waiting, given the lack of humidity.  My husband specializes in turd polishing, and if you don't get right on that thing, it will set you up to look pretty stupid. Nothing is worse than carrying a busted turd to market.  Best to cover the whole mess in beer foam until you can get a specialist. Turd's the Word!

I, on the other hand, can tell a cow pie from a flying saucer.  If you fling BS, I can smell.  Hubby and I make a great team.

Give it UP, GOP, this just isn't your election cycle.  Your turds are busted.

Now, who's this icehole trying to sell me a cold stone sundae that smells like shite for governator?

OMG!I just figured out this plein aire I got from my stepmom is probably the work of Armando Diaz, the Italian General who turned the war around and defeated the Austrians in WWI, born a Spaniard.  Looks like he painted it in Zanzur while recovering from his battle injuries in 1912 Libya.

I'd really like to offload this piece of shite, but I do NOT want to know who collects it.  Diaz retired from the service in 1926 after warning the King not to frack with Benito.  That's as fascist as he ever got.  But if you like Imperialdickheads, he's in the top five.

@mikefrombisbee In an on-line conversation I had with Huppenthal (before he was Superintendent), he pushed the idea of denominational schools for most children.  At that time he wasn't using a sock puppet.

That he was foolish enough to do a lot of this nonsense using state resources is even more astonishing than the amazing stuff he wrote.

The Republican program of dismantling the public school (as has largely been accomplished with the State Parks) will be devastating to Arizona for many years into the future.

Thanks for the banal excuse for ignoring evil.

I know, I think he's a bore, too.  But if you read between the lines he posts and those written for him he's quite the shift shaper.
