A Phoenix woman is accused of throwing a kitten off the balcony of her third-floor apartment, killing it.

According to court documents obtained by New Times, neighbors heard 49-year-old Patricia Gaffin arguing loudly with her children before tossing the kitten over the balcony.

Multiple neighbors witnessed Gaffin throw the kitten at the apartment complex near 15th Avenue and Hatcher Road.

According to a police probable-cause statement, Gaffin "later admitted to being a 'kitten killer' and attempted to justify her actions due to the fact that the kitten had urinated on the new carpet in her apartment."

Gaffin was booked into jail on a felony animal-cruelty charge but was released without having to post bond. She is to be supervised during her release, according to a judge's order.

Court documents indicate Gaffin has been involved in prior domestic-violence incidents.

I'd put the kitten on a chain and make here wear it around her neck for a month.

Oh GEE....the kitten had an accident and for that she decided it must die.......what did she do when her kids had accidents?  People like her shouldn't have children or pets, for clearly she has no empathy, clear judgement or common sense.  I'd like to see her tossed off a balcony and experience what she perpetrated upon an innocent, helpless little life that deserved far better than Patricia Gaffin gave it.

She's a horrible role model. Who knows what this heartless witch would do to her children. Besides the emotional pain she has already caused them. I hope she's not alone with her children.

Seriously I can't believe the judge allowed her to keep a dog after what she has done!! I don't care that she says its a service animal! I don't know of to many chihuahuas that are service pets! She's already demonstrated violence and to give her a second chance at it pisses me off!!! I will pray between now and may 12 that this judge will have the wisdom to sentence her for her "crime" and not excuse her actions like so many do!! This judges decision represents a whole society and the message they send is crucial!!!!

Let's throw this chick off a balcony and see if she lands on her feet.

People "learn" too much about the world from watching fiction on TV.

We probably all know people who would be surprised that the kitten didn't simply land on its feet and walk away.

saw the wench who is accused of doing this on the news - her pathetic sobs of "I don't hurt animals" were not moving in the least.

The only thing good about this is that we know who did it. Jail time.

looks like a real classy broad *smh* I predict hell on earth for this skank-looking floozy once the animal rights people find out where she lives - throwing HER off the balcony would let the punishment fit the crime, no?  can't imagine what kind of mother she is....those poor kids of hers should be taken away and put into a proper home with parents who aren't psychopathic maniacs

If anyone ever feels the need to throw a cat off a balcony, email me and I'll come take it off your hands. No kitteh-killing necessary.

Why was she released without even having to post bond?? I thought Joe was tough on animal cruelty.

Only misery could produce such unnecessary cruelty.

So cats can't fly ??

How evil was this kitty that it already squandered 8 lives?

This woman should be thrown off a balcony too but if that can't happen, at the minimum she deserves a serious ass whipping.  The term "never hit a woman" doesn't apply to her.  I'll be waiting at the front door of the jail when she gets released.  I'm serious!

you guys ever shave your pussies? I took two in for shaving yesterday. $65 each. I shave them myself sometimes, but yesterday was a busy day. I took a real dog in for a shave as well. what a bowser. she gets all shaved up pretty and comes home, drinks some water and bloats. I rush the bitch into the vet and they stick a tube into her stomach and let all the pent up air out and then a half hour later, she bloated again and her stomach flipped! She had a good 14 years and was all bathed and groomed for her funeral.

Nothing worse and inexcusable as abusive treatment to children and animals.

Hopefully, they removed her children.

Judges determine release conditions, Amigo.

Sure you are

You are aware that you just issued a threat on line right? Now if anything does happen to her, you would be a suspect. Do you like vegetarian meals? Joe doesn't serve meat anymore

@66rock  ... like George aWol Bush torturing and killing frogs with firecrackers where he was a younger sociopath.

@TommyCollins Right, I get that. I thought sheriff's deputies were able to charge animal killers with more heavy-handed charges, which would in turn affect conditions of release. While I don't know specifics of laws in regards to animal cruelty or release conditions, it shocks me that she didn't even have to post bond. People who are arrested on non-violent drug-related charges usually have to post bond, and she kills an animal and gets to walk right out.
