A local mixed martial arts trainer who once fought in a UFC event was arrested on Monday for his alleged involvement in a 1999 murder in Mesa.

Homer "Rock" Moore, 42, was arrested by Tempe police and the U.S. Marshals Service on a charge of first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Karam Hussein Jabbar.

Police say Jabbar was found in the trunk of a car in the parking lot of a Mesa grocery store with his hands and feet bound and a bag over his head.

According to Tempe police, which investigated Jabbar's murder, several people were involved in the killing, although only Moore has been arrested.

The murder reportedly was the result of an attempt to rob Jabbar of some marijuana, and Moore had been questioned early on about the murder.

A police spokesman says Moore's arrest is the result of more and more evidence being collected over the years.

A timeline of Moore's MMA career shows that the murder took place between Moore's second and third professional fights. In 2001, after Moore had amassed an 11-0 record, mostly in Arizona-based fights, he was selected to fight an undercard fight in a UFC event, UFC 34.

Moore lost that fight in a second-round submission, and was never brought back for another UFC event, although he continued to fight in events hosted by various promotion companies all the way up until 2013.

His bond has been set at $1 million. To check out some of his MMA and other fighting clips, see below for a video he compiled himself:

None of you know anything about this case I'm sure.... I lived this nightmare for almost 15 years. This Homer dude wasn't arrested just on SUSPICION!!! They had enough evidence N his (Homer) bragging about it while laughing on several occasions... Yea real innocent.! Can't even imagine having that dudes back after being arrested on FIRST DEGREE MURDER!!! So shame on anyone who says " Innocent until proven guilty". Disgusting. Which in due time the truth the whole truth is going to b brought to fruition. Talk about something other than Homer n his UFC "career". Focus on the HORRIFIC not to mention TRAUMATIZING act of inhumanity this man did to my fiance/best friend. I feel sorry for those who are so ignorant in thinkin he COULD b innocent. Yea...no. Homer is DONE. He deserves the same torture he did to my best friend....for the next 3 life sentences. Make him ROT THAT DISGUISE HUMAN WASTE!!!!

Homer Moore is the jerk who groped/assaulted my wife as we were leaving a Scottsdale bar in 2005. I've known him since his HS days at Maryvale where him and his thugs terrorized anyone different than them. I knew this day would come, for years I've told myself, just wait, karma always wins. He'll do well in jail until he meets his match and forced to submit unwillingly, permanently, forever.

UFC wouldn't take him back. Because he was doping up on anabolic steroids, or had a copious history of steroid use. He was better off at the local level fighting idiots who dare to step in a cage with a steroid junkie.

@NoMoreMoreAnymore  I know Homer very well. I am shocked. He was always courteous, polite and respectful to me and my friends.

Please remember he is innocent until proven guilty.

@logicman @NoMoreMoreAnymore  You dont know the facts of the case. Neither do I. But, I do know the US Constitution. Homer is innocent until proven guilty. If I am wrong, and you DO know about the case, maybe u can quit hiding behind ur "name" and testify.

Go back and re read the US constitution. There is no amendment pertaining to innocence until proven guilty. Repeat, no mention in the constitution.

Maybe the BarakObamstitution, where the laws are selectively enforced and new law can be conjured at will. Yeah that's what your thinking of...

Thanks fanboy, you're right, criminals are people too! And in some cases even Homocidal murderering drug rippers get off clean, so we'll see.

Now that you mention it, he was Very polite and courteous when I approached him after he violated my wife.

Special thanks to Tempe PD and the US Marshall's for helping settle at another karmic debt.

And Prayers to the victims family -
