Most people in Arizona die from the same causes as residents in other states -- heart disease, cancer, stroke...

However, there are some ways to die in Arizona that are more common or pretty much exclusive to the state. We bring you 10 of the most stereotypical ways to die in Arizona:

Well, duh. More than 60,000 people live in the retirement communities northwest of Phoenix.

Scorpions don't bite. Waiting for the cardinals to win the super bowl? I'm pretty sure that's not a way to die. This article is crap.

The writer doesn't seem to understand the concept of classic dueling. Dueling requires both to have weapons. An unarmed person without prior weapon shot and killed by a man that was armed - is not compared to that of the classic duel. Oh and Scorpions (sting) - not "bite".

.....I like to see statistics on the number of people shot and killed by all Arizona police agencies.....

A scorpion... stings... a scorpion bite wouldn't kill you.

# 11. Get locked up in the Maricopa County Jail where Arpaio goons will kill you with Arpaio's blessings.

I agree with the commenter who said that being in custody of MCSO should be on the list.

Angry right-wing crackers will be pissed that medical marijuana did not make the list either. They will whine that bath salts and meth were singled out.

@1959cutter ,

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember a guy who was killed when the base of the Sahuaro he was shooting at was weakened by the bullets and fell on him.

Mother Nature got some payback.

@valleynative In most so called recent "self-defense" cases were hardly justified in the name of actual self-defense. Especially in the case of the Walmart shooting noted from the above article link. A simple shove, does not warrant a life threatening excuse to use lethal force on a unarmed citizen.

Man up, pal. And be a man.

@valleynative @Original-American  What you don't see on tape is what the shooter may have said/names may have called the Indian man.As he was leaving the store.Is that called provocation?

@valleynative @Original-AmericanAccording to the surveillance footage made available through the media. The dastardly criminal cut in front of several customers already waiting in line. That's when the victimized American confronted the boorish jerk and proceeded to followed him out. His only crime? A simple shove out the main entrance door. Where is the prolong battle necessary to instill a "fear of death"? It doesn't show a single punch being thrown by the victim. View the footage "thoroughly", son. As it shows the cowardly 25 year old murderer's immediate shooting of the unarmed American. When his only possible injury or lack thereof, was a bum fall on the linoleum. That alone doesn't warrant the use of lethal force. His case is weak just like the perp who pulled the trigger.

Man up, pal. And take the punch.

@Original-American @valleynative

Study the case more thoroughly.  The attacker followed him after he tried to leave and attacked him for no reason.  There was reason to expect that he would not stop until his unprovoked rage was satisfied, which establishes reasonable expectation that the victim's life is in danger or that he is in danger of permanent physical injury.  That justifies shooting.

The lesson is for violent assholes to "man up" and not resort to violence for no reason, or an honest citizen who's carrying might end you.
