For whatever reason, it always seems like Phoenix is getting a bad rep -- which shouldn't be the case.

We love Phoenix, and here are the top 10 reasons you should, too:

10.) The Culture

People who say Phoenix has no culture typically live in suburbs. (Really? Peoria and Gilbert don't have culture? You don't say.) There's culture here. Exhibit A: Consult New Times' "Best of Phoenix." Exhibit B: Consult New Times' culture blog, Jackalope Ranch.

It's close to CA and Vegas. Does anyone really "Love" Phoenix? or are they just dealing with it, and trying to make the best of it because they're stuck here?

I did not say that, but since you brought it up, the destruction of the unions by the fair trade act, set up the American workforce for the rape most employees are experiencing today. And not just here in Az.

I would say a shocking majority of young people who live here are trying to be somewhere else. Phoenix is neither great or completely horrible, but it's definitely very bland. I find Albuquerque to even be a much more interesting city..

And being a right to work state guarantees you can be replaced by lower paid employees for no reason what so ever. Not to mention the other problems with the job market...

"One of the best things about Phoenix is the accessibility of places that aren't Phoenix. Northern Arizona, California, Mexico, and Las Vegas are places you can just drive to, in a quarter of a day or less." Ironically, I disliked Phoenix because of how *far* it was from all of these places (and others). You want accessibility? Move to the Northeast. THAT is accessibility.

The one bad thing is the Republican controlled government.

I lived in Phoenix for four years and loved every minute of it, my husband and I would love to be able to live there again in our future. We dearly miss it and all the ones we left behind.

I've not found a single thing to love about phoenix (or arizona). Even the hipsters here are sweaty hillbillies. I don't know when my sentence in phoenix will be over, but as soon as it is, this shithole won't even be a memory for very long.

4 million reasons to hate it. I'm a third generation native. Love the desert. Hate the selfish, shallow people. I miss the cotton fields and citrus orchards.

I'm not sure we get a bad rap, I think we get hurled lots of JEALOUSY at us! We never had winter this year, despite what the rest of the country is STILL suffering through!! I love those 80-something sunshiny Jan/Feb days!

What do you call "culture"?  There's an opera, a ballet, a symphony, a botanical garden, and three major art museums. How many of those have you patronized this year?
