The DUI task forces around the state made a total of 233 arrests for driving under the influence this weekend.

The task forces were out for the St. Patrick's Day weekend, and since St. Patrick's Day is today, the total number of DUI arrests obviously will go up.

In the same Friday-Saturday enforcement on St. Paddy's Day weekend last year, there were 212 DUI arrests. The average blood alcohol-level of those breathalyzed this weekend was 0.153, nearly twice the legal limit, and an increase over last year's average of 0.143.

In addition to DUIs, more than 2,000 citations were given out on Friday and Saturday, more than double the citations given out last year. There also are more officers participating in the task forces this year.

New Times published the general locations of these DUI task forces, so click here to review that information if you're going out tonight.

Across the Valley, DUI task forces will be in Phoenix, Mesa, and Scottsdale, in addition to any other regular patrols across the cities.

And with as many ride options as there are out there, it's just too stupid to take the risk. Get a D.D, Uber, Lyft, Sidecar or cab if you're gonna drink.

The police in Arizona are an occupying force. Never seen anything like it anywhere.

Here is the reason Y there are sooo many more citations: the fact is the lawyers write lame trivial laws which cops use to pull u over I.E. a license plate not lit up! whoppdee doo big freakin deal but they use it and YOU in AZ LET THEM ENACT LAME LAWS! WHAT ABOUT A HEADLIGHT OUT AGAIN WHY IS IT A REASON TO PULL SOMEONE OVER AND TICKET? LAMEASS LAWYERS AS LEGISLATORS AND PEOPLE WHO DONT STOP THEM Y CANT THEY STOP THEM? BECAUSE THEY MADE ANOTHER LAW?.? SO GIVEN YOU PEPOPLE DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT WHO'S RUNNING AZ AND WHAT LAWS ARE BEING RAMMED DOWN YOUR THROATS ENJOY WHAT U CREATED! DUI IS NOT A GOOD IDEA BUT A MORE TREACHEROUS VENOM IS HOW COPS CONDUCT THE SETUP OF THEIR MOBILE COMMAND CENTER! IF IT WERE USED TO CATCH ALL THOSE RAPING KILLING ROBBING STEALING AND WRITING LAMEASS LAWS I WOULD AGREE WITH IT HOWEVER THE PREMISE IS WAY TOO MANY MANHOURS SPENT ON THE LITTLEST OF LAWS WHERE U NEVER SEE THEM ROLL IN HEAVY ON GANGS TAGGERS SHOPLIFTERS VANDALS IN APARTMENT PARKING LOTS ETC

Stupid cops, clearly have WAY too much spare time on their hands. Must be the sudden shortage of REAL crime in the state.

We have a glass of wine also sometimes, when we go out, however one of us refrains...! Not worth a dui, or hurting yourself or others!

Just be smart, I've had a dui in the past. It's not their fault if they catch you and arrest you, it's your own damn fault for being stupid.

Well some of us would like to have a beer or glass of whine when we go out to dinner but again they've made it impossible to do that. The only other option is set home…out of sight out of mind!

Yea the way they are nowadays we have to stay pent up in house's or take a risk of getting pulled over by AZ's finest!! It's sad but true!!

I'm so happy that I do not drink anymore. And how stupid can u be to drink and drive? Look at what happens when people are driving drunk. . Ppl die. And you get arrested how fun...

If you don't understand why those are valid laws, you're probably too stupid to be driving.  Your writing style would seem to support that.
