Maps made by a Georgia Tech grad student show where the highest concentrations of people without health insurance live in America's biggest cities, including Phoenix.

The maps are based on data collected from the Census Bureau's American Community Survey, and the map of Phoenix isn't entirely surprising.

Areas in South Phoenix have the highest concentrations of uninsured people, and a fairly large stretch of West Phoenix has a higher-than-normal level of uninsured people, too.

There are also noticeably higher levels of uninsured people in Mesa, Avondale, and a few spots in northern Phoenix, including around Interstate 17 and approximately between Cactus Road and Dunlap Avenue, as well as an area that appears to be around Bell Road and 32nd Street.

Between Arizona's Medicaid expansion and the federal healthcare mandate, it'll be interesting to see how this map changes in the coming years.
