SB 1062 Veto March Planned for Today

Categories: Protesters

A march at the state Capitol in protest of Arizona's Senate Bill 1062 is taking place later today.

There already have been protests against the "religious freedom" bill in Flagstaff, Phoenix, and Tucson, but several local groups have been trying to get people out to the Capitol today for a large protest.

This protest is being organized by Human and Equal Rights Organizers (HERO), a Phoenix LGBT advocacy group.

The protesters will be joining businessman, politicians, and countless other citizens in calling on Governor Jan Brewer to veto the legislation, which would expand the rights of businesses to make exercise-of-religion claims in court. Many people believe this is a way to discriminate against LGBT people, since they're not a protected class of people under Arizona law.

People, the group behind SB 1062 is the Center for Arizona Policy. It is time to focus your energies and expose this hateful organization. They need to be shut down......they have no place in our peaceful society. They ride on the coat tails of "Tax Free" religious groups and are hate mongers. Keep an eye on them....That is where you will find the source of the negativity in Arizona. Change is made with love, not hate. Be that person, even if you're standing alone at first.

If this bill becomes a law, does it also work in reverse?  That is, can a LGBT business owner refuse services to a straight person because it violates his/her religion?

The irony is....if the bill passes, the businesses who enact this will be called out, boycotted and thus, will be shutting down before too long. Perhaps this will put the right people out of business?

Christian Paul -- you are the worst kind of bigot, you let your ignorance show along with your bigotry -- or are you secretly dealing with deeply suppressed homosexual tendencies which is probably more the case

I am an Arizona Native that can "Choose The Right."

Your photo appears to be close to child porn, are you a pedifile?!

It kind of looks like Babeu's Desito School flyer?

Are you Sheriff Babeu?

@wtf... @gtnoriega554

You have to be able to convince a court that your refusal is motivated by a sincerely held religious belief.

The best definition of what is a "religious belief" I can find in a (quick) search is from SCOTUS: [edits are mine]

... a sincere and meaningful belief occupying in the life of its possessor a place parallel to that filled by the God of those [that we would all agree are religious]
[This] does not cover those who [believe something] from a merely personal moral code nor those who [believe it] on the basis of essentially political, sociological or economic considerations rather than religious belief.

@DNichols  You and the donkey boy obviously see child porn in everything, even innocent pics.  Perverted personalities see perversion in all things.

You sick fuck!
