Darren Sharper, a former Pro Bowl safety in the NFL, has been accused of raping women in several states.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced this morning that Sharper's being charged in two rapes there and revealed that Sharper's also being investigated in rapes in Nevada, Louisiana, and Arizona.

Tempe Police Sergeant Michael Pooley says Sharper's been accused of raping two women in a Tempe apartment complex in November.

Pooley says Sharper, 38, was in town to visit a friend on November 21, and after a night out with her and her friends, they went back to one woman's apartment. There, Sharper allegedly drugged some drinks and gave them to two women, who passed out.

Sharper allegedly sexually assaulted the women after they passed out.

"At this time, the investigation is still ongoing, and our detectives are working closely with the Maricopa County Attorney's Office in this investigation," Pooley says.

According to a statement from the District Attorney in L.A., Sharper's accused of doing something similar there.

After meeting two women at a nightclub in West Hollywood on October 30, he invited them to another party but said he had to stop by his hotel room first.

He's accused of giving shots of alcohol, which were drugged, and both women passed out. One of the women reported being sexually assaulted.

The same series of events also transpired with two other women on January 15, and one of the women "believed she'd been sexually assaulted," according to the district attorney's statement.

According to the DA, Sharper's accused of drugging the women with zolpidem (Ambien) and morphine.

In Los Angeles, Sharper has been charged with two counts of rape with the use of drugs, four counts of furnishing a controlled substance, and one count of possessing a controlled substance -- all felonies.

Sharper, a safety who played in the NFL for 14 seasons -- more than half of them for the Green Bay Packers -- was selected to the Pro Bowl five times in his career, and is ranked seventh in NFL history for the most career interceptions with 63, tied with Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott.
