Activists Give Toilet to Representative Carl Seel as Award for His Anti-Undocumented Bill

A group of activists brought a toilet to the state Capitol today as an "award" for Republican Representative Carl Seel.

Seel's assistant at the House of Representatives refused to accept the award, which Citizens for a Better Arizona brought in response to Seel's introduction of a bill that would make it a crime for undocumented people to use "any public resource," including highways, public schools, or, perhaps, public restrooms.

Representative Carl Seel.
House Bill 2192 says the bill would apply only to people if "any . . . operation of law" has determined that the person is not lawfully present in the state. Seel has argued that this would apply only to people already subject to court proceedings.

Beto Soto, of Citizens for a Better Arizona, says the language is vague and doesn't really specify which undocumented immigrants it would apply to.

Soto and more than a dozen others brought the toilet to the House of Representatives today, naming the award the "Russell Pearce Extremist Award" -- in honor of the former Senate President whose recall in 2011 was championed by Citizens for a Better Arizona.

Thus, Soto said the toilet award was a symbol that Seel still needed to "learn a lesson about hateful anti-Latino legislation."

Unfortunately, Seel's assistant wouldn't accept the award for him, and Capitol police threatened to cite activists for littering if they left it there, so Seel won't be getting his toilet.

Who thought of this, a six year old? I knew the moment I glanced at the picture contained in this article that it was another bout of theatrics from Randy and crew at CBA. Live chickens, hula skirts, brooms and now toilets (just to name a few) what's next, riding through town on purple painted pony's while shouting 'Arpaio is a Meanie'

This is the mentality of the people that constantly beg for your money and this is how they spend it, on theatrics to attract media attention so they can beg for MORE money. I am sure MLK and Cesar Chavez are looking down from the sky and doing a face palm and moaning "why didn't we think of that, live chickens and toilets, those folks are really smart" I know a lot of things that could have went into that toilet, including the financial transparency of the organization that bought it!

LMAO that is funny.

Seel and the rest of the mentally sick fools we call legislators all need to be flushed down the toilet.

Based on Arizona Many Bigoted  Politicians, I think the Toilet should remain in front of the State Capitol, and should be labeled "Bigoted Asshole of the Month"?!

Im sure that Jan, Joe, Russell, Andrew, Bill, and the rest of the Tea Crew would like to be honored as well.

Perfect....that's where the bill should go. Then again, because I believe in recycling, shred the sucker.

Protest art. Great art objects for a new museum that will hold the peoples' outcry to their lawmakers of Arizona -- their legacy.

Now if we could just flush all these assholes politicians down the toilet we'd be on to something.

"any public resource"?   Like...  county jails?  Better start letting them out, Joe.

they are entitled to their own form of expression, but it kind of bothers me somewhat seeing them bringing chickens, bringing toilets, bringing coal, etc, etc............. i really want to see some dignified debate. the theatrics may be getting attention, but i feel it somewhat demeans the whole issue by trying to make fun of it, i take it more serious and would like to see it brought up in a dignified and adult manner. stuff like burning diplomas, throwing elmo dolls, dropping off bags of coal, etc, etc........... just seems to debase it all to me (just my opinion though). if thats what gets the attention for them on their issues, i get it, i dont like it but i get it. i myself am guilty of trying to use humor, but there are some times where it just isnt dignified and detracts from the issue.

When Seel talks it is like listening to a really dishonest used car salesman. Same with Rep Smith and the rest of the tea Party opurtunists.

@Cozz

Arizona is long overdue to have our Political Cesspool pumped of its current massive build up of corrupt Turds too?!

@danzigsdaddy  Sorry, the people have worked for years, in a dignified and respectful manner, only to be ignored by the lawmakers, who could care less.

Attention to these issues, is what's needed. The people of Arizona are asleep at the wheel. Maybe this will wake them up? And the County Sheriff's media stunts are "professional"?

@robert_graham And of those bills follow history, there will be lawsuits with us taxpayers footing the legal bills yet again.  For being "conservatives" you people sure do like spending my money on all the lawsuits you lose; but, then again, it's not your money so why should you care?

@ConcernedCitizenAZ  i think you are reading me wrong. i agree that attention is needed and i get why they are hamming it up, i just wanted to see them take the dignified and professional approach. (and no, i do not find the sheriff to be professional in either his approach or his job)
