Joe Arpaio's Workplace Raid of Uncle Sam's Results in First Arrest of Business Owner

Deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office have arrested a business owner as a result of its workplace raids -- for the very first time.

Almost all the 70-plus such raids carried out by MCSO have resulted only in roundups of undocumented immigrants. Now, months after deputies raided several Uncle Sam's restaurants around the Valley, owner Bret Frimmel and manager Lisa Norton have been arrested on charges of forgery and identity theft.

Ten employees were arrested in the July raid --the 73rd workplace raid -- and four ended up being charged.

In total, 762 employees have been arrested in these raids, which the Sheriff's Office comically referred to as "employer sanctions operations" for quite some time, despite only three employers ever being held for sanctions, and the first actual arrest coming yesterday.

"Both current and past employees stated [Frimmel] knowingly hired employees that were using forged identities," state court documents obtained by New Times.

The documents say the former employees told deputies that Frimmel "made comments to employees to bring in undocumented friends because they work the most and he could pay them the least."

"[Frimmel] also made comments that he didn't care about their status and would yell at staff, calling them illegals," the documents state.

The employees said they never even had to provide ID or a Social Security number when they were hired at Uncle Sam's.

They also told deputies that they couldn't get food handler's cards because they didn't have ID, but Frimmel told them it didn't matter, and told them to keep working.

One employee said he heard Frimmel say to Norton that they needed to "purchase numbers" before he started working, according to the documents.

An MCSO spokesman says several witnesses claimed that Frimmel and Norton "colluded together" to acquire false identity documents.

The laws need to be enforced uni-laterally the people that knowingly hire illegals should be accountable.

Hey Feds:

What is money laundering?!

Is that where A piece of shit pretending to be "Law Enforcement" takes money earned by eight hundred undocumented workers from his crooked Pal who owns many car washes, and puts it into a Sheriffs Fund while giving his crooked ass Buddy massive Tax Breaks for the illegal transaction?

Is that what "Laundering" is Honest Joe?

But why do you want the business owners arrested? If it weren't for them, your flock of illegal aliens wouldn't get jobs. Once I find the video I will post it on http://sheriffarpaio.org

Quetion for the Feds?:

As Arpaio was shieling Danny's car wash locations from raids, and even using the eight hundred un-documented workers to work side by side with M.C.S.O. Deputies to raise Total Profit for the M.C.S.O was Arpaio not in fact the knowing EMPLOYER of the eight hundred illegals working hand in hand with his Deputies for years to benifit solely the M.C.S.O.?!!!

Its alright to exploit un-documented labor when you are the one making massive dollars from it right HONEST JOE?

Arpaio should be arrested as an Employer of Un-documenteds!!

Arpaio knew hundreds were un-documented at his Buddy Danny's Car Washes, and Arpaio not only exploited thier labor, he was Shielding Dannys from his Workplace Raids!

I think a fitting punishment would be to exile Frimmel and Norton to Mexico.

Poetic justice.

How about the many Danny's Car Washes that Arpaio had his M.C.S.O. Deputies shielding, and even washing cars side by side with the what eight hundred un-documented workers?!

Arpaio was shielding his Buddy Danny Herndon while Busting Danny's competition Car Washes!

I think Danny, and his Bud Arpaio should be sporting Pink M.C.S.O. Panties?!!

With the legalization of marihuana you would think people would understand why the Mexicans are scapegoats..... Just as many drugs and guns come through Canada but you don't see douchebags wearing fanny bags getting harassed.... Wake up people and stop letting the racist Zionist media do your thinking.... And if your about taxes then why isn't the national debt to these foreign countries paid yet..... All patriotic American s are brainwashed

If all these were focused on the people hiring instead of abused workers this would be a good idea.

gee, ya think this could have been taken care of on the first raid? now it just makes Joe look incompetent, this arrest should have been made before. how many other employers were let go that were doing the same thing? i am willing to bet that if they went back and checked the other places they raided, they would find the same thing going on again in a bunch of them

This is so out of character for the elderly guy at MCSO. He normally goes after the low hanging fruit, which might have been Danny's. But, for SOME REASON, he didn't seem to suspect any of the hundreds of employees at Danny's might be in violation of immigration laws. It took the Feds to do so.

So, they go after the long hanging fruit at the next tree....

It used to be that when someone was arrested and charged with a crime I felt there was probably some strong evidence to support the arrest and charges. Not so with MCSO and MCAO.... they are just playing the charging game and hoping they can get someone to plead without going to trial where the charges likely will be dismissed.

So, in other words, I guess the owners of Uncle Sams are the first business owners that wouldn't "contribute" to Jokes campaign war chest....

This is hardly the first time that owners and managers have "colluded" to hire illegals. So why did Joe collar them? What's different about this particular raid? Does this have something to do with the naming of Joe's overseer? It will be fascinating to know the answers to those questions.

danzigsdaddy
danzigsdaddy topcommenter

@robert_graham so you are saying that we should support giving them reasons to come here? you are saying that people who hire them (taking away jobs from US citizens) should not be punished? that kinda shoots the hell out of your arguments that they are stealing US citizens jobs Robert.

@Robertarpio:

On the many M.C.S.O. Car Wash Days at Danny's Car Washes wasn't Arpaio actually Arizona's "LARGEST EMPLOYER OF UN_DOCUMENTED WORKERS" since the M.C.S.O. collected all of the Profits the un-documenteds earned?

If we are going to start Jailing Employers why not start with the States LARGEST Ones?!

Arpaio, and his pal Danny?!!

@danzigsdaddy Zigs, it's not likely they had enough evidence after the first raid of the place. Most likely they have offered immunity to some of those arrested and got them to roll over on the owner and the manager. However, unless there is significant physical evidence, the case will be mostly circumstantial with a disgruntled employee fingering the owner and manager, and NOT be deported, as a result of 'cooperating' with the prosecution.

@danzigsdaddy The owners didn't make a "donation" to Joke's campaign after the initial raid....

Lets not forget Turf Paradise, same situation there, a heavy campaign contributor to Arpaio and somehow gets over looked on any raids.

@WhoKnows Yup, my first thought as well.  If this guy's name had been on the donor's list, there is no way he would be arrested, no way.

@eric.nelson745  I agree however the answers to your questions wont be forth coming anytime soon and in time I think the judge and overseer will be more inclined to proceed with going after the employer's. The illegals are small potato's its the employer's that need to be arrested.

@DNichols @robert_graham  dont forget Turf Paradise..remember in 08 when the State Racing board refused to license over 100 of their workers because they couldnt show proper ID, and rather than raid the place arpaio went after the racing commission!

Cozz, I try not to indict the agencies based on the actions of their elected officials. I try to remember there are some very fine people working at both agencies.... in spite of their corrupted elected officials.

TommyCollins
TommyCollins topcommenter

@66rock@WhoKnows For example, Danny's not only donated to certain election campaigns, but they also opened the doors to a restaurant and bar to entertain members of MCSO. Basically, Danny's was simply buying 'insurance' from prosecution, but they didn't realize there was a Federal agency also in charge of Immigration issues. They drank the sweetened water from the MCSO taps, apparently.
