The proposed home for ASU's law school

Arizona State University and the city of Phoenix showed off the design of a proposed 260,000-square-foot home for the ASU law school.

The $129 million center, which still needs final approval from the Arizona Board of Regents, is scheduled to open in 2016.

According to a city press release:
The proposed six-story, 260,000-square-foot facility, would occupy most of the city-controlled block bordered by Taylor, Polk, First and Second streets in downtown Phoenix. It will include two levels of underground parking and direct ground-level access to public sidewalks and plazas.
The plot, the former site of a Ramada Inn/Sahara Motor Inn, was purchased by the city a few years ago for about $6 million, with the purpose of helping ASU expand its downtown campus.

It will be called the "Arizona Center for Law and Society."

According to the city's press release, the city council approved using $12 million from the city's Downtown Community Reinvestment Fund to help finance the project in December.

There isn't. There is an over supply and no jobs.

Why are they opening a school dedicated to a dying profession. This job market has dried up. Should be opening a school dedicated to medicine instead as that is where the jobs are and will be for decades.

I believe that the old law school and law library in Tempe will be torn down.

We sure don't need more ASU lawyers chasing ambulances, hanging put at the Koch Brothers funded Goldwater Institute of buttInskis or more places for Hornedog to place rejected staff members. Did not square glass boxes go out in the 1980's? Is that as innovative as you can get for ambulance chasing school? We have one massive glass box in The Federal Building.

What about the law school on Tempe campus? Is it staying open too? I didn't realize there was a shortage of lawyers.

I can't imagine they care about that when they're going to make hundreds of times more in profit per square foot with this shit factory..

that would be so awesome, if only ppl with law degrees can actually get jobs. The job market is oversaturated with lawyers at this time.

It should be called the School of Rhetoric given the number of BS artists it will graduate. If it ever gets built, I do hope that they include a bronzed characture of GED Jan in the lobby.

This sucks. There is currently a large parking lot there that is great for ASU students. That is where I pay to park 5 days a week. Hopefully they make a new lot for that!

Where is the building where future lawyers have their souls extracted?

@shadeaux14 You're implying that they had souls at some point previous. I think it's more of a prerequisite that they don't.
