Attorney Gets Short Jail Term for DUI Crash, Ex-CPA Gets a Long Prison Sentence, and More

This week, a Valley attorney gets some jail time for a deadly DUI crash, a former Scottsdale CPA gets a lengthy prison sentence, Jodi Arias gets her news on Twitter, and more:

  • Attorney gets 10 days in jail for DUI hit-and-run

    Aimee Butel, a Valley attorney and former Maricopa County medical examiner, was accused of running over and killing a woman lying in a roadway while driving drunk, then driving away. The woman Butel hit was lying naked in the road near 34th Street and Thomas Road, but Butel drove away after hitting her. Butel pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an injury collision and a misdemeanor count of DUI. Judge Margaret Mahoney sentenced Butel to three years of supervised probation and 10 days in jail, per the plea agreement.

Aimee Butel, a Valley attorney and former Maricopa County medical examiner.

Must have been an Alien.  That life doesn't count.  If Dale Hausner just shot Aliens his picture would be on the wall of the legislature.

She wasn't charged with DUI homicide.  It was not possible to lay the blame for the death on the driver, whether impaired or not.  Leaving the scene of the accident is a crime that isn't amplified by the seriousness of the accident.
