Year after year, Arizona's elected officials continue to amaze us with a never-ending stream of stupidity, hypocrisy, and failure.

The year's been no exception -- check out our picks for the 10 worst local political moments of 2013:

10.) Have You No Shame, Andrew Thomas?

If you're a disgraced former county attorney who's since been disbarred for abuse of power, you'd think you would lay low for the rest of your life. Nope. "Candy Andy" Thomas says he's runnin' for governor. Someone should consider attempted-murder charges after some of us almost died laughing when we heard that one.

Love that Sheriff Joe is still here and hundreds of mojados had their culos kicked south of the border.

Reminds me of an old rule from the Farmer's Almanac:

"In rivers and bad Government, the lightest things float to the top."

Looks like we put the Ivy League of Republican numb brains into office, and then back into office, time and time again. And it's not just the politicians, it's a number of numb skulls in Law Enforcement and the Judiciary, too! All of these people are VOTED in!

An embarrassment before the world!

In this year of such fine work by the GOP in AZ, has anyone else noticed that the Snoring Alliance website is now almost as dead as a rabbit that tries to cross a freeway during rush hour?

The GOP is AZ is so entertaining.  But does anyone else think it might be best if they were put in padded rooms so they can't hurt themselves or others?  Jan can just move in with her son in the state hospital!

Arizona Politicians, the embarrassment that just keeps on giving.

@DonkeyHotay

That might be true if we had a democracy, or a valid electoral system at all.  Instead, we have a political system which has been hijacked by the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, virtually ensuring that it's impossible to elect the best people, since people who vote based on parties are, by definition, not really thinking about their choices.

Correction,         Arizona REPUBLICAN politicians.

The "embarrassment that just keeps on giving" are the brain dead voters that keep electing them year after year.

@valleynative ... so Democracy -- as exemplified by the U$A -- is an abject FAILURE, eh?

Wouldn't they actually have to have a brain to be brain dead ?

Survey: The number of Republicans who believe in human evolution has declined

Washington  – A growing partisan divide is emerging between Republicans and Democrats on human evolution, according to a poll by the Pew Research Center.

Forty-eight percent of self-identified Republicans told Pew in a study released Monday that they believe humans "existed in their present form since the beginning of time."

That is a sizable shift from 2009, the last time Pew asked the question. In that survey, a majority of Republicans – 54% – told Pew they believed in human evolution.
