A car fire in North Phoenix this morning actually turned out to be a suicide attempt.

A Phoenix police spokesman says there was no vehicle accident and the driver just set himself on fire near Pinnacle Peak Road and 49th Avenue.

The man's been hospitalized in critical condition, according to Phoenix Police Sergeant Trent Crump.
