Fox News Relies on Phoenix Hoaxer to Report Obama's Funding a Muslim Museum

Fox News reported this weekend that President Obama is personally funding a museum of Muslim culture in the midst of the government shutdown.

If that sounds completely fake to you, that's because it is -- and it's the product of Phoenix's prolific media-hoaxer.

-No, Jan Brewer Is Not Putting "Gay-To-Straight Programs" in Arizona Schools

Really, if you read hoaxer Paul Horner's "article," you'd really have to have shit for brains to believe it for more than one second.

Here's how it starts:
While up to 800,000 federal workers faced life without a paycheck as Day Two of the government shutdown kicked in, President Barack Obama held a press conference to announce that he is using his own money to open the federally funded International Museum of Muslim Cultures.
If you really think that could fool somebody, then get a load of this part:
"The Muslim community deserves our full acceptance and respect," Obama said. "We have killed millions of Muslims overseas since the September 11th attacks. They are not all bad. In fact most of them are good. So during this shutdown, now is a great time to learn about the faith of Islam. I encourage all of you to celebrate the Muslim community, the 'Sunnah' and the magic of the 'Quran'. All of this can be found at the newly re-opened International Museum of Muslim Cultures."
Someone who's supposed to be a media professional with a national audience somehow fell for this? Plus, there was no on-air correction. No mention that Fox News' Anna Kooiman just said something that was entirely false.

Kooiman kind of corrected herself on Twitter, although most people don't use Twitter:
Just met w producers- I made a mistake yday after receiving flawed research abt a museum possibly closing. My apologies. Won't happen again.
Notice the correction is "abt (sic) a museum possibly closing," not something to the effect of, "That entire thing about the Muslim museum was complete bullshit."

Maybe Fox should continue mentioning Horner's "reporting," like the time he won the Powerball jackpot, or when Governor Jan Brewer put gay-to-straight programs in Arizona schools, and Bill Murray went on a nationwide party-crashing tour.

Miraculously, Fox didn't follow up with another Horner scoop -- Obama declared November "National Muslim Appreciation Month."

Why does Fox news continue to embarrass themselves?

1. Their business model is to play to prejudice, rather than present unbiased reports

2. There are hundreds of Fox affiliates, just as there are hundreds of NBC affiliates.  Whenever any Fox affiliate station does something stupid, the liberal media reports it as "Fox News" having done something stupid.

Another question might be:

Why do so many people assume that all conservatives watch and blindly trust Fox News?

1. It's more comfortable to believe that there are a few people who disagree with you, and that those people are controlling a lot of other people, than to believe that a lot of people have considered the issues and come to conclusions that differ from yours.

2. Just as some conservatives blindly believe Fox News, many liberals blindly believe whatever they're told by liberal media.

Why does Fox News continue to embarrass itself by parroting the bullshit some twit like JAFfy spews while knowing full well that what's being spewed is bullshit?

Fox News would become a much more credible source of news if it wasn't politically biased, racist, and gullible.

It's all fun and games until someone actually gets killed over one of this toxic little troll's hoaxes. Hard to say who is more disgusting: the troll, the Fox "News" producers, or the so-called "editors" who can't admit they've been punked. Then again, maybe they knew it was bullshit and ran it anyway, because they know that delusional Fox "news" viewers gobble up the bullshit and beg for more.

Fox News is owned by Rupert Murdoch - he is a vile individual who hails from another country outside the Americas.   Numerous examples of how the news reporting and the opinion side of the company work with each other to provide a unfair and unbalanced presentation nonsense.  I think John Dailey summed it up best:

“And I get that Fox opposes a Syria peace plan because its motus operandi is to foment dissent in the form of a relentless and irrational contrarianism to Barack Obama and all things Democratic to advance its ultimate objective of creating a deliberately misinformed body politic whose fear, anger, mistrust and discontent is the manna upon which it sustains its parasitic succubus-like existence.”

Is anyone really surprised?? It's Faux media, it was a story about their nemesis, the black man in the White House... of course they ran it without bothering to check it... even though this same guy and publication has punked Faux in the past...

What's really sad? That the vast majority of the Republicans actually believe the crap from Faux media... the other sad part? Then want to believe it.

@OATHKEEPER1958 About your postings, man, you are really upset. Please, calm down, life is too short, enjoy things, throttle down and spend some time with your family, perhaps your daughter is in the mood for oral this morning .............I'm guessing that the 'ole shadtree business isn't as lucrative(it means makin $) as you would like and as a result you have some serious misplaced anger. Now, you are a revolting piece of shit, for sure. Never the less, I am going to give you some advice. You have serious mental health issues. That, your extremely low IQ and an undoubtedly miserable and bleak upbringing has rendered your life an unbearable catastrophe. Your "folk" are your "folk" and your shoe size is your IQ; you cant change any of that but you can begin to address the mental health aspect. Now c'mon shitfolk, I am pulling for you. Your postings are terrific. I urge you to share them. Talk to a professional about the way you feel, tell them about your work at Area 51, that is a good place to start.  Then elaborate on your conspiracies and pepper, no, salt your conversation with abject racism. I'm sure your diagnosis will be determined fairly quickly, just be yourself.

Until you seek help, you better duck and cover, cause the Mexicans are gonna get ya..........

@Flyer9753 What's even worse is that, even after Fox admits that the story is bullshit,

They'll STILL believe it, and not only that, they'll believe that the Fox admission is part of a vast liberal conspiracy.

Nowhere near the same, but go ahead, defend your parties Faux mouthpiece.

Why not, they still think Romney is going to win 2012 in a landslide...

BTW - since I know it's coming... a reporter standing in front of a green screen that the video guy got wrong (CNN case) is WAY different than a reporter buying into an obviously bullshit story, picked up from a known parody site and publisher, that they read prior to air, yet did not verify via any other source and have yet to issue a retraction about...

"Provide an example of me being proven wrong with facts"

Just go back and look through some of your own posts.

" If you think I've split hairs, I have to assume you mean that I've used arguments you haven't been able to understand."

You know what they say about people who assume something right (of course you do, you know everything)? Also, your assumption does not make it a fact.

"You're comfortably in the bottom 5 of frequent posters in terms of ability to understand a debate."

Coming from you, I consider that a compliment.

No, actually,by definition, knowing a lot about a lot of things makes me a master of many things.

Good luck in life.

"Sorry if you find the fact that I know a lot about a lot of things intimidating."

But that is just it, you DON'T know a lot of things, you just think you do.

You have been proven wrong with verifiable fact on these blogs almost as much as JAFfy and YPS.

You post opinion, claiming it as fact and then argue even when shown factual proof that you were wrong.

At least most of the other posters here make an effort to be factual and correct themselves, as I did the other day when I mis-spoke the Concealed age.

But even when someone posts a verified fact that proves you wrong, you argue that your opinion is what is right and split hairs so finely so you can make the argument that you were right.

@valleynative @Bnbk "Sorry if you find the fact that I know alot about alot of things intimidating".In the real world its called being a Jack of all trades and a master of none. Constantly stating an OPINION does not make it fact. The FACT that you express your OPINION does not make it fact. Let me guess VN.as a student in school you were the kid that when the teacher asked the class a question, you would wave your arm furiously while yelling I know I know pick me pick me. You were the student that would argue with the teacher over an inncorrect answer on your test, the student that would cry when you didn't ace a test while blaming the teacher, other students or the subject matter for your failings............Your OPINIONS are no more or less valid than anyone elses that post on these blogs.........Perhaps if you would just state your OPINION and leave it at that instead of making condescending comments, such as,"think before you post",amongst others, people would be a bit more receptive to your OPINIONS......You might keep in mind that maybe, just maybe you are not the only individual on these blogs that is capable of critical or analytical thinking.............After all the moments attempting to proselytize others,we lose our sense of wonder. We drown out our questions and lose our intellectual curiosity.Repeating our respective manifestos ad-nauseam,we limit ourselves from being inspired, learning new information, and listening to other countless other testements to truth......James Yoon...Columbia University

You seem to have misunderstood what I said about Fox (and, for the record, I still assume that people who spell it "Faux" believe that that word is pronounced the same as "fox").

I said that they're NOT a propaganda arm of anything, but, rather, are in the business of selling advertising.  They do this by telling their viewers what they want to hear, twisting it to fit their point of view, just like New Times does.

valleynative
valleynative topcommenter

@Flyer9753 @valleynative

So only the on-air talent deserves any criticism?  Most of the time, they're just mindless pretty faces that read the teleprompter.  The real work, and the people who deserve the praise and criticism goes on behind the scenes, doing things like figuring out which continent we're talking about and finding and vetting stories from the wire.

If the talking head happens to be the same person who found the story, then that's all on her, but it's silly to excuse CNN's goof because the talking head didn't make it.

I never said anything to excuse the Fox reporter, by the way.

You obviously have never been in a studio during taping

The reporter in front of that green screen never saw that graphic prior to the graphics guy tossing it up on screen and even then she did not see it, she's in front of a green screen!

The Faux reporter FOUND the story, I have to assume read the story and still put it up, that's on her alone.

Thanks for admitting Faux is NOT a news organization and only a propaganda arm, now if only the rest of your party would admit the truth. (and it is your party, no matter how much you try to deny it, that much about you is crystal clear)
