Scottsdale police say a man left his 1-year-old child in his car while he went to work at the Scottsdale Quarter.

Coincidentally, the Scottsdale Quarter is less than a mile from the shopping center where a 3-month-old boy died last month after his father allegedly went to work and forgot he'd left the boy in the backseat of his car.

The 1-year-old in this weekend's case is in critical condition, according to a Scottsdale Police Department spokesman.

According to police, 28-year-old Brokale Lytte Marques went to work at or around the Scottsdale Quarter, near Scottsdale Road and the Greenway-Hayden Loop, around 9 a.m. on Saturday.

He couldn't find a babysitter, so his plan was to leave the youngster in the vehicle, with the air conditioning running, Marques would later tell police.

Between 11 and 11:30 a.m., Marques went on his lunch break, and the child seemed to be fine, he said.

But when he checked on the child at 2 p.m., his boy was in a "lethargic state," police say.

"The father began to drive and look for a hospital when he pulled into the mall area and flagged down security to call for medical help," Scottsdale Police Officer David Pubins says.

The child was hospitalized in critical condition, and remained in critical condition yesterday, when Marques was booked into jail on charges of child abuse, child neglect, and endangerment.

Kim, do you think it is ok to forget your child in the car and kill it? NO EXCUSE!! You have to be an idiot to not know your kid was in the car, so the title is more than fitting. Burden, give me a break.

He needs to be locked up for child neglect! You grow a non-toxic, harmless plant and do time, you kill your kid, oops, my bad? C'mon Phoenix, where are your brains?

Kim- I am a civility proponent too. But I understand the frustration. This guy didnt "forget" his child was in the car- he puposely left the child in the car while he went to work. Went out at lunch to check on the child...and went back at 2pm ti check and found the child unresponsive. I agree, that societal realities is that if this guy and mom are both working min wage....they can't afford daycare. He probably felt like he had no choice...the thing is- he endangered the child. And we won't know the repucussions of that for a while. That is not ok...not ever.

This is horrible, our families need support during a tragedy not criticism. This headline is moron it's, insensitive and inhumane. What happened to the times when people's dr mistakes, unforgivable mistakes and society had some compassion for the poor soul who had carry the heavy burden? I'm tired of the "some idiot" comments. Teach civility and compassion.

Remember, when you make something Idiot Proof, God will create a better idiot. This kind of thing will go on until somebody makes a law that classifies this as what it really is: Homicide in the First Degree.

You've got to wonder about his friends, family and neighbors, if he thought that leaving the kid in the car was safer than asking even the least responsible among them to watch him.

Just curious eric.nelson745, what do tattoos have to do with parenting? Do tattoos indicate a person has a criminal record?

Marques has an extensive criminal record according to 12News. And just look at those tats! Prison is too good for him. Bad parenting personified.

@Kim Villarreal             Let me help (you seem to need it)

"insensitive and inhumane" = purposely leaving a poor defenseless baby in death trap.

"compassion for the poor soul" = not purposely leaving a poor defenseless baby in a death trap.

"heavy burden" = listening to you try to defend it.

@Marco Cruz   What does that even mean?  Why did you say that?

@fishingblues @nataliebinaz in this state, where we have narrow minded people like you, id say its more showing security. Its those that think they have the right to judge others by appearance that usually are the insecure ones.

Tattoos certainly do not indicate insecurity. As a matter of fact, it takes a secure person to be able to express themselves in a way that makes them happy without caring about ignorant, judgmental people like yourself. As far as tattoos looking hideous on a woman…lol. This is 2013 and fortunately women have come a long way since you were born. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. These young, tattooed women are probably repulsed by your white hair and wrinkles, therefore not giving YOU a second look. I am sure it won’t be long before you lose your vision and tattoos will be one less concern for you. Thank God you will expire before your ignorance can rub off on our next generation.

@david_saint01 @fishingblues   Wait davie, when I was at the gym this a.m., wasn't that you I saw with your mom taking you into child care?  You were kicking and screaming, like the snotty nosed, whiny little brat you are.  Gosh, I bet you did some heavy lifting in there.

@david_saint01 @fishingblues    Dang, davie boy.  I must say your English is improving.  You are not quite to 'you're' yet, but you have moved away from 'your' in lieu of you are.  I guess you are slightly less stupid then your liberal friends that keep making the same mistake over and over and over.

@david_saint01    I'm heading to the gym in a few.  I'll see you there.  (Difference being, I actually go and you fantasize about not being a little pussy.)

@david_saint01      Gee thanks for your insightful comment, davie boy.  You know I so look forward to them.   Only the fat, the ugly, teenage girls and the insecure are concerned about others judging their appearance.   which are you davie?  Teenage girl?

nataliebinaz

Luckily for me I am grown and can afford to have them removed if I chose to. Perhaps you should look into plastic surgery to remove your saggy skin, that others find unattractive. Or you could be secure and confident in your appearance, and not care what others think. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and we have already established that your vision is not so good...
