Should the Coyotes Stay or Go?

It looks like the Phoenix Coyotes are here to stay (for at least five more years, anyway) after the Glendale City Council approved an arena-management deal with the team's buyers.

Although that was a huge deal, there's still a significant rift between people who want them to stay, and people who want them to go.

Phoenix Coyotes Staying in Glendale

If you don't live in Glendale there might not be too much room to get heated over the city agreeing to pay millions of dollars every year to the team's new owners, with an unknown return to the city. The projected return is lower than the investment.

There seems to be dozens of reasons why people want to team to stay or go, and both sides have been fairly vocal, so let's take a vote: do you think the city council made the correct choice? Should the Coyotes should stay or go?

The Coyotes are still here?

They should have been sent packing years ago.  They shouldn't have been invited in the first place.

Stay but why the hell did they put the arena all the way out there. Impossible to get to a weeknight game with traffic that way.

Now that they are "Arizona Coyotes" it says alot about the owners commitment to the entire state and region. This is a good team with good players..whatever politics is going on is not their fault and certainly wont make them a better or worse team overall.

Hell yes I want them to stay. It's bullshit that the team's owners are essentially extorting the city though. People should be more supportive of them. If I lived in the valley I'd probably split season tickets with a friend.

Since building the jobing.com arena and taking on the Coyotes Glendale has chose to cut youth programs, library hours (don't plan on visiting the library if you hold a full time job) and now there is talks of selling of city hall and renting it back from the new owners all in the name of balancing our over extended budget! It's gotten way out of control and our city council appears to have a "we will deal with it later" attitude. We can't afford the coyotes and we can't afford to lose them... what a debacle.

Just go! They have the 2nd worst attendance in the league and they are a financial drain. It's a stupid idea: hockey in the hottest city in the US. What city is next....Lake Havasu?

How come all the wingnuts aren't complaining about the massive amount of "Gubment Welfare" that goes to sports teams.

@Jim La Rose

They put it all the way out there next to the Cardinals Stadium that four times as many fans manage to find a way to get to.

The Coyotes don't draw because ice hockey in Phoenix doesn't draw well no matter where they call home,.
