Joseph Aguilera Identified as Guy Who Punched an Elderly Homeless Man to Death in Phoenix

According to police, this is Joseph Aguilera.

Phoenix police have identified the man investigators believe punched an elderly homeless man to death on July 11.

Joseph Nicholas Aguilera, 30, has been identified in the guy caught on surveillance footage at a convenience store near the scene of the crime and was booked into jail on a second-degree murder charge.

The elderly victim was standing near a bus stop at 27th Avenue and McDowell Road around 8 p.m. on July 11 when he was approached by Aguilera, police say.

Phoenix police Sergeant Darren Burch said the suspect seemed to have confronted the man "for no apparent reason."

Burch said "the suspect walked up to him for no apparent reason, looked him up and down, shouted profanity, and punched him once on the side of the head."

Aguilera ran away, while the elderly man was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Phoenix police Sergeant Steve Martos says investigators are still attempting to identify the victim, who appeared the be at least 70 years old.

dont care who arrested him..................just glad some one did, and that is what i like to see the police doing. priority crimes getting priority work. murder is high up on the list (still under rapists and pedophiles in my opinion, but still in the top 3) and needed to be investigated immediately. good work

@danzigsdaddy Yup, violence needs to be up there.  It's asinine when violent offenders bounce in and out while drug users sit in their cell for upsetting big brother.
