Trent Franks' Abortion Bill Passes House, Which Doesn't Really Matter

trent-franks-house.jpg
Congressman Trent Franks
Anti-abortion fanatic/Congressman Trent Franks' bill to create a ban on abortions 20 weeks after conception has passed the House of Representatives.

That's not to say it's any closer to becoming a law, because it's really not.

There's no way a place controlled by Democrats (the Senate, the White House) will take kindly to this bill, and the Associated Press confirmed that today.

So, Franks did what he always does, which is waste everyone's time dealing with his abortion bills.

Franks has become a national name in his fight for this bill, but only because he claimed that "the incidences of rape resulting in pregnancy are very low."

Due to Franks being incredibly wrong, changes were made so the bill exempted victims of rape and incest from the 20-week limit.

After more than a decade in Congress, not a single one of Franks' bills has been signed into law, and he's going to continue his streak on this one.

The republicreeps majority, idiocy taken to a new level. If your looked up the term "absolutely worthless", Trent Franks picture would be next to it.

People find it really offensive that women want to kill their unborn children.  Why would that be?

Nothing more than more wasting of money, on something they know and knew would not go anywhere.

What's with the Repugs? They claim to be the party of 'fiscal responsibility' yet they have no problem wasting $50+M on repealing the ACA, which is not going to happen and now they are wasting even more on things like this?

How many bills does this make that the Republicans have put forward this session along, that they know will not pass, but of course these are more important than working on things like Jobs, getting manufacturing back in the US, cleaning up the banking industry that screwed EVERYONE, etc...?

The Republicans are showing their true colors and those colors are nothing but waste, hypocrisy and not giving a damn about anyone other than themselves and their wallets.

If people hadn't made such a fuss about his statement, the bill wouldn't have been changed, and in its original state wouldn't have made it this far.  Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut.

Isn't TrentBoi part of the Tea Party folks that HATE government waste and government regulations?

Then why is he wasting taxpayer money and trying to pass new regulations?

Trent Franks remains in the majority in Arizona:  morons and ignorant, corrupt and devoid of any ethics. Sadly this is the norm for politicians in AZ.

@elvagotragoThe real issues behind all the debate about contraception, abortion and Planned Parenthood:

Pregnancy and a child are appropriate "punishment" for the "sin" of having pre-marital sex. Failing that, an STD.

@Flyer9753 Do you think it's only the Republicans doing this?  You're not paying close enough attention to the nonsense the Democrats are doing.  They're falling over each other filing bills that all do the same thing, so they can all tell their constituents that they're "working on the problems".

@valleynative You like to keep saying that he is harmless...that his bills never receive a hearing....that his bills will never be passed.  Well, still think he's harmless?  He's getting closer and its because voters like you, voters who live in his district, are willing to put up with this shit because it easier than finding yourself a candidate who's not a religious ideologue that's hell-bent on requiring everyone to worship or observe like he does.  You voted for him - you enabled this.

@valleynative

Bull - this bill would have passed the house no matter what, in whatever form. It's a republican held house, all they pass is crazy and their mantra clearly is 'the crazier and the more wasteful, the better'

@WhoKnows  He's Tea Party when it will help him win votes, but he knows that his real voter base is the religious right, who think that he's fighting to save babies.

@Flyer9753 Unless you put aside your prejudices and actually look at history, then you'll see that it didn't really have much of a chance.

Not all Republicans are rabidly anti-abortion, and some Democrats are. It's not really an entirely partisan issue.

@valleynative @WhoKnows Or is his real base voters like you who say that you're willing to put up with his efforts to impose his religious beliefs on the rest of us because you really, really like his position on guns.
