Worse Week in Washington: Jeff Flake or Trent Franks?

Categories: Morning Poll

Senator Jeff Flake (left) and Representative Trent Franks.
Last week was not exactly the greatest week ever for a couple members of Arizona's congressional delegation.

There's Senator Jeff Flake, whose son Tanner "N1ggerKiller" Flake made tons of racist and homophobic remarks on the Internet, and then there's Representative Trent Franks, who made an ass of himself after remarking that the number of rapes that result in pregnancies is "very low."

Franks initially claimed that his comments were "taken out of context," which wasn't really the case, but his spokesman later said that Franks "misspoke."

It kind of seems like the damage is done, regardless of whether Franks meant to say that the number of rapes that result in pregnancies is "very low," or meant to say that the number of rapes that result in pregnancies and are aborted after six months is low.

Some aren't so sure that Franks didn't mean what he said the first time, and has been publicly berated by a fellow Republican, who repeatedly called Franks a "moron."

Then there's Flake, who's been keeping a low profile since his son's social-media comments were displayed to the public.

In addition to the comments, and a video of the kid pretending to commit suicide, there are several black leaders here in the Valley who are pretty upset about the language used.

Given all that, who do you think had a worse week in Washington, D.C.?

The worst week was for the American people.  Who cares about either one of these douches? I am a proud Arizonian and can tell  you that I know about these douches up close and personal.

What a pair of flakes:  one was teased for his hairlip in middle school and hated girls; the other was a comfortable douche nozzle and never had to be anything but, but both became republican politicians to take revenge on the healthy people they hate.  Remember how flake betrayed, totally betrayed Gabby and Mark in one day.

Need an option for a tie.

Both make Arizona voters look like idiots.

Both are headed out the door. Franks will be tougher because he only cares about his oil company, abortion is just a look over there, while I do this over here. Flake is done. peace

What a pair of posing "Latter Day Saints".

Saying something stupid about abortion just makes this a typical week for Franks.

Flake, on the other hand, may never recover from his kid's stupidity.

Trent Franks voting record has already proven him to be one of the top douchebags in Arizona.

This is a tough call, if you include today's ruling by the Supreme Court, the Joker's conviction in racial profiling, and the Dems and Brewer passing/signing the Medicaid bill.  I think right wing heads are exploding all over Sand Land today.

As ever, AZ had the worst of the week (Cept' the Obamacare win...still not sure I believe that one)

With the recent Supreme Court ruling on Prop 200 I venture to say these two imbecilic individuals will be voted out of office next elections as the power of balance shifts with the new registration rules.

I wished AZ would discontinue voting in idiots just because they have R before their name. R actually stands for Racist and Rapist

Trent...I don't think its fair to judge any parents by the mistakes of thier kids...no matter which party. Kids are supposed to make dumb mistakes...that's how they learn.

I'd say WE had the worst week being "represented" by these tools.

@royalphoenix Flake is done? That is a joke. He just started a six year term in January. See you in 2018....

@valleynative I think you are giving his kid's stupidity too much weight.  It is a nothing story and will fall off the radar in a matter of weeks.

@Carl ToersBijns   Why should the registration rules cause a shift in the balance of power.

Certainly you're not suggesting that non-citizens would register to vote as Democrats.

@Penny Tompkins Cook  Saying that all Republicans are Racist and Rapists is what we call "bigotry", which makes your message ironical, as well is imbecilic.

@Jo Ellen Birt McNamara  No, ideally, people learn morality and ethics from their parents BEFORE they make such incredibly poor choices.   If you only learn from your mistakes, I wouldn't want to be too close to you.

@Jo Ellen Birt McNamara Does the kid pay for his own iPhone and ISP?

@valleynative No, because it was said that it discriminated against otherwise ELIGIBLE voters: including Native American tribes across the state whom struggled to meet the additional requirements.  To me it would only make sense that those in this state who felt like they were discriminated against would not vote for GOP's in this state. I would agree with Carl ToersBijns.  I would think a change is going to come.

YPS.  What office does Russ Pearce hold today?  I forgot!

Also, Flake's kid is 15, and at an age where the parent should still be responsible.

@WhoKnows  Russel Pearce had two sons commit and get convicted of crimes.  It didn't affect his electability one iota.

The Kennedy Family killed people and it never affected their electability.

Flake's 13 year old son's juvenile comments on the internet pale in comparison.

And he's got no proof, YPS!  The Cuban's in Fla are actually strongly conservative, for example. (look at Rubio's base)
