Fox News Host: Immigration Reform to Blame for News of Racist Comments by Jeff Flake's Son

Correction: Several tweets, and many more YouTube comments.
Between showing a Phoenix man blow his brains out on live TV and labeling the state of Arkansas as Arizona, it's safe to say that Fox News sucks at covering Arizona issues.

That includes Wednesday, when host Neil Cavuto suggested that the only reason people care about the extremely bigoted comments made by Senator Jeff Flake's son is because of Flake's support of immigration reform.

"Did you find it curious that [the bigoted comments] got out at all?" Cavuto asked Flake in an interview Wednesday. "And would they have gotten out if you didn't have the prominent position you presently do on this immigration debate?"

"Would it even have mattered that much?" Cavuto continued to Flake, who was talking, but certainly not directly responding to questions about his son, Tanner.

This is nonsense on several levels. This still would have been news even if Flake hadn't won the Senate race.

Nobody whose old man holds political office gets to call themselves "N1ggerKiller" and get away with it. Sorry, Neil Cavuto.

Plus, the individual who found all the kid's online comments doesn't hate immigrants, so there's no motivation to go after Flake for pushing immigration reform.

Even though Cavuto tossed up the softballs for Flake, and tried to let Flake play the victim, the stuff still made him squirm. Check out the interview below:

It's time that AZ gets rid of their two embarrassing U S Senators! Gone with McCain and his "boy" Flake!

It's Faux news talking about one of their saviors, a republicant so facts never entered into the discussion and that should surprise no one.

You want the truth?  You can’t handle the truth.  Why is it so hard for you people in Arizona to understand that we Republicans don’t want those minority people to vote?  Republican Rep. Kenny Marchant (Texas) told the AP that he doesn’t support immigration reform that includes a pathway to citizenship because it might get him voted out of office!  “If you give the legal right to vote to 10 Hispanics in my district, seven to eight of them are going to vote Democrat” Said Rep. Marchant.  And in a speech made to a gathering of Texas Republicans last month, tea party activist Ken Emanuelson claimed that Republicans do not want black people to vote unless they do so for Republican candidates.  “I’m going to be real honest with you, the Republican Party doesn’t want black people to vote if they’re going to vote 9-to-1 for Democrats,” Emanuelson said according to the Houston Chronicle.  Let’s just talk the truth here folks.  White Southern males and religious fundamentalism, along with our NRA, IS the base our modern Republican Party!  Since Reagan we TeaPublicans won elections by demonizing everyone but our base.  As most of you already know, we Republicans are NOT racists, we just don’t really like blacks, Latinos, women, gays and all non-Christians simply because the majority of them ALWAYS VOTE FOR THOSE DEMOCTATS!  Yes, our Republican Party IS different now then back in Regan’s and Dole’s days….and Thank GOD it is!You smell that?Do you smell that? Victory, son.Nothing else in the world smells like that.We TeaPublicans love the smell of victory in the morning!Palin/Bachman 2016!  It’s going to happen!

I would still like to know where his son got the gun he used in his fake suicide video. Before anybody says that it was probably a toy, watch the video and pay attention to the sound when he racks it, only a real gun makes that sound. Also, toy guns, as far as I know, don't produce a muzzle flash.

One good thing came of this: Flake now knows what his son does while he is away in Washington, D.C.

It should make him squirm.  We tell our kids all the time - their conduct is a direct reflection of our family and us as parents and we have certain expectations for the way that they conduct themselves in public.  Are our kids perfect in public? Of course not.  When they don't behave appropriately do they hear about it from us in no uncertain terms?  Of course they do.  His son's conduct is a direct reflection on him and his wife and their entire family.  He should squirm and his son's conduct should make him horribly uncomfortable, not only because he is embarassed by it but because he is disappointed in the way that his child has conducted himself.  Unfortunately, when you watch the video you get the sense that he is squirming because to him it is a political issue more than a parental one.  Maybe that is the ultimate problem for him.

@TeaPublican Love the smelll of victory in the morning?  How did that smell last November - that victory in the morning.  Oh, that's right, you got your tea party ass kicked.

BTW, Palin is going to play you like a concert violin for the next 3 years just like she played you in the run-up to the last primary and you are going to be left jilted at the alter once again as she laughs all the way to the bank and you are left crying in your bear.

@shadeaux14 Valleynative, you know damn good and well that Tanner is a deeply disturbed kid. Jeff Flake is completely shirking his responsibility as a parent if he isn't having Tanner examined by a psychiatrist. The things the kid says and does reveals a seriously twisted mind.

@shadeaux14

Easily fooled, aren't you?

It sounded like a plastic toy, and was easier to rack than a real gun of that size and caliber.

Notice that the "muzzle flash" doesn't light up his face at all, and stayed on the screen longer than a real flash would have.

@Eleanor_Holguin Agreed. I think that while it is possible (as many have suggested) that Tanner learned racial and homophobic epithets from his father, it is much, much more likely (especially given his disturbing YouTube video) these are the postings of a kid who needs help and is desperate to get someone's attention.

If Jeff Flake knew his son said those things and made that video, and he did nothing, it is shameful, and says disturbing things about Flake's character. But it is also shameful and disturbing if Jeff Flake did not know about his son's online activities; that smacks of a father who is woefully out of touch with his son and not involved enough in his life. And that son is, at best, rebelling and under too much influence from peers/video games/etc. At worst, Tanner Flake is crying out for help, mentally ill, a threat to himself and possibly others, and needs his father's immediate attention. (And where, by the way, is Mommy Flake in all of this, if Daddy Flake is too busy being a politician to be a parent???)

Yes it is somewhat interesting that this has come to light as Jeff Flake works on immigration reform. But more likely, it's just the recurring story of a politician from the "family values" party - You know, the partly whose representatives constantly scold those of us who do not fit their narrow definition of "family" (working dad, stay-at-home mom, married, straight, christian, no drugs, no sex before marriage, etc...) as immoral cretins who are destroying America? Well it would seem that if those "family values" were so great, then the children of the GOP wouldn't ever be getting into trouble for, say, posting racial and homophobic slurs online, now would they?

Then again, maybe the reason they preach to the rest of us is because they are incapable of living said values themselves. Projection is reflection, after all. Hypocrisy, thy name is GOP.

Regardless, I hope that Tanner Flake is getting the help and attention that he obviously needs.

Excellent point.

Flakes Son is obviously trying to get some attention from his Father.

And as far as the "Racism", Todays video games inspire shooting Cops, stomping hookers to bloody puddles, ect.

Hopefully Kids realize they are in a make believe realm, which is probaly how Tanner intended his call name to be not realizing how bad it really was.

Parents need to be more involved than Flake probably is with his Son?!

@JohnQ.Public  Ever hear of a "false flag"?

There are some pretty stupid people posting here, but I still don't like to believe that anybody can be as stupid as TeaPublican pretends to be and still operate a keyboard.

@eric.nelson745  Yes, I do know that damn good and well.  I've said it myself in just about every comment I've posted on this topic.  Why do you imagine that Ive said anything to dispute that?

@valleynative really, who gives a shit if it was fake or not..kids actually do kill themselves all the time, and here this kid is making a fucking joke of it. That in itself screams "I have major issues"...the anti Semitic and racial comments are just more evidence something is wrong the kid.

JohnQ.Public

@valleynative Reality means not blindly ignoring something or wishing it away simply because it does not fit your world view.  You don't like his comments.  Great, I get it.  But wishing him away as a "false-flag" commenter so you can pretend that his comments are not representative of the tea party movement or conservative thinking in general without more to go on other than a hunch or supposition doesn't qualify as critical thinking.  The commenter may very well turn out to be a liberal troll - but I haven't seen anything yet to confrim that and you are going on nothing more than supposition.

valleynative
valleynative topcommenter

@JohnQ.Public Critical thinking means not blindly accepting something as true because it fits your preconception.

JohnQ.Public
JohnQ.Public

@valleynative Of course, but I'm not going to assume that his position is anything other than he says it is without more.  Just cause his comments should be embarassing to tea party-iers doesn't mean that they aren't representative of the movement.

@david_saint01 Yes, he's sick vermin.  If he had actually fired a handgun in his home to make his joke, though, that would have been an actual crime.  Daddy might even have been charged with endangering the little idiot by allowing access to the gun.
