Guy Selling Rusty Fence on Craigslist Claims It Was Owned by Barry Goldwater

A rusty fence, allegedly owned by Barry Goldwater.
It's not exactly JFK's rocking chair, but there's some alleged historical political memorabilia -- or something like it -- for sale on Craigslist.

Some guy says he's moving, so he's got to sell some portions of a rusty old fence he claims was owned by late U.S. Senator and 1964 Republican presidential candidate Barry Goldwater.

The seller didn't really include any information about Goldwater's alleged ownership of the fence -- except claiming that it was "custom made" for him -- and he hasn't responded to an e-mail questioning the authenticity.

One of the late Senator's sons, former Congressman Barry Goldwater Jr., tells New Times he doesn't know if the fence belonged to his father. Honestly, we don't blame him for not knowing, and we're not exactly sure why we expected he might know.

However, if you take a look at old photos of the Goldwater household, it looks like it might be the fencing that encased the plants (it's advertised as being 27 inches high).

Anyway, buyer beware on the Goldwater fence. Click here for the ad.

That's Goldwater's house? His main residence? Looks awfully small. The photo is black and white, which suggests that it was shot many years ago. As far back as the early 50s. What makes me question whether it's actually Goldwater's place is the absence of any radio antennas. Goldwater was famous for being an avid ham radio operator and his property was a veritable forest of antennas of all sorts.

I just wasted 2 minutes of my life reading this!

@wtf... I just spent 15 seconds responding to this, and buddy, it was GLORIOUS.
