Michael Beasley: basketball player and subject of sexual-assault investigation.
The Scottsdale Police Department has confirmed the rumor that disappointing (on and off the court) Phoenix Suns forward Michael Beasley is being investigated in a sexual-assault case.

"We can confirm that our agency is investigating an allegation of sexual assault involving Mr. Beasley," Scottsdale Police Officer David Pubins says. "The allegation involves an incident that took place on January 13, 2013."

Police aren't saying much at the moment, seeing as someone found out about this mid-investigation.

"At this point, we can only say the investigation is ongoing as we are interviewing those involved and are processing any physical evidence that we may have to try to determine if criminal charges are appropriate for this incident," Pubins says.

Beasley's last run-in with Scottsdale police also was in January, when he was found speeding about 25 mph over the speed limit down Scottsdale Road at 1 a.m. without a license plate but with a suspended license and expired registration.

Beasley, 24, also has been caught with weed three times (twice by police and once by the general public), and he had a stint in rehab.

This was Beasley's first season with the Suns -- his fifth season after being selected with the second overall pick in the NBA draft in 2008.

Beasley posted career lows this season in points per game, rebounds per game, field-goal percentage, three-point percentage, and just about anything else that matters, helping the Suns achieve the absolute worst record in the Western Conference.

Scottsdale police, once again, targeting their next "high-profile" case. Where's the presumption of innocence? When are the athletes going to learn that Arizona is a "trap" looking for the big $$$'s for lawyers and the criminal justice system which is the state's #1 industry? They certainly ignored the over 430 sex crimes cases against children since 2005. Not 'high-profile" enough and NO $$$'s.

Perfect reason to cut this jack. Some people just don't appreciate what god gave them! What a waste of talent!

Is this suppose the be the face on the Suns? This is the organization that let Steve Nash leave and passed over Thunder Dan as their coach. Wow, how the mighty have fallen.

I can't help but wonder, would this sexual assault be pursued if he was leading the Suns in victories.
