Sanctions Placed on Eight Sinaloa Cartel Bosses Operating Along the Border

The U.S. Department of Treasury placed sanctions on eight Mexican cartel bosses in the north of the country, each of whom controls smuggling routes and cities for the Sinaloa Cartel called "plazas."

The Sinaloa Cartel is the largest and oldest of the Mexican cartels. Throughout the drug war and internecine battles between smuggling groups, the Sinaloa Cartel has managed to remain fairly intact. Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman is believed to be the leader of the criminal group, and Forbes has listed Guzman as one of the most powerful people in world, estimating his net worth to be around $1 billion.(Forbes took Guzman off their 2013 list.)

The eight men accused of working for the Cartel have been designated as drug smugglers under the Kingpin Act, which freezes any assets in the U.S. the men might have had and outlaws Americans from doing business with them.

"Today's designation marks another step in [the Office of Foreign Assets Control] efforts to specifically target the narcotics traffickers responsible for the horrific acts of violence committed along the Arizona border with Mexico,"   Adam Szubin, director of the OFAC, said Tuesday.

The eight bosses named are Cenobio Flores Pacheco (a.k.a. "Luis Fernando Castro Villa"), Jesus Alfredo Salazar Ramirez, Guillermo Nieblas Nava (a.k.a. "Adelmo Niebla Gonzalez"), Ramon Ignacio Paez Soto, Felipe De Jesus Sosa Canisales, Armando Lopez Aispuro, Jose Javier Rascon Ramirez, and Raul Sabori Cisneros, all operate as plaza bosses for the Sinaloa Cartel.

They're accused of controlling smuggling operations along the 375 mile U.S.-Mexico border, including Arizona border towns like Sonoyta, Nogales and Agua Prieta. The bosses each run a town used as a shipping point for drugs, and also oversee the flow of guns and cash from the U.S. back to Mexico to fuel their war and increase their market share of smuggling routes.

The Sinaloa Cartel is also thought to play a major role in the kidnappings and murders across Mexico. Some experts put the death toll in Mexico because of drug violence around 100,000.

Drug Enforcement Agency Special Agent in Charge Doug Coleman says the new designation will hurt the group's ability to launder their money.

"In order to put organizations like the Sinaloa Cartel out of business, we must continue to utilize every tool available to ensure that these criminal groups and their associates cannot exploit the U.S. financial system," Coleman says.

@JoeArpaioFan   so you are offering to remove peoples names from your imaginary list of info that you keep saying will be posted on your site (that you have not), are you aware Robert that that is coercion and also a form of blackmail and that is illegal. you are attempting to break the law Robert....(well, you would be if you had any complete info anyways)  telling people that you will stop posting their personal info if they vote your way is illegal however and is called voter intimidation. maybe next time you shouldnt try to outline exactly how you are breaking the law on your site, it is showing intent and you wont be able to claim ignorance of the law as a defense

@JoeArpaioFan  or we could just send a couple of Joe's deputies down there.....we could send CJ Joe and tell him they are his father (he'd then stab them) or we could send Tim Abrahmson down there and say they are who his wife is sleeping with (that would cost them an ear as he sucker punches them in a cowardly fashion), or we could send Carpenter down there.......oh wait, he'd just turn states evidence on Abrahamson . or we could just tell Joe they are child molesters and he'd just ignore them and refuse to admit they exist

wtf...
wtf...

@JoeArpaioFan why don't you go down there and do it yourself? and tell us how it went! BIG MOUTH!

@danzigsdaddy @JoeArpaioFan No, I simply said that anybody who changes their mind about signing the petition can do so by calling the Maricopa County elections department.  There's nothing blackmail about it. Only according to you there is.  But what was coersion is when the New Black Panther Party stood outside Philly poling places in 2008 with baseball bats intimidating people to vote for Obama?  Do you know that the DOJ didn't even touch the case? Do you remember? Well, I am not forcing anybody to ask that their name be removed.  It's their choice.

@mikefrombisbee @JoeArpaioFan Shit talking, I doubt it. But of course since you advocate drug use and lawlessness you think my comment was stupid. You'd better wake up and smell the coffee though.

@JoeArpaioFan what if i tell  you my name is Michael Marks and i want my name removed from your list. I do not wish to change my vote and you are violating my privacy. are you going to remove the name from your list? i have submitted a request and you said you would remove it. are you now telling me the only way I can maintain privacy from your persecution is if i vote your way? that little one is forcing me to make a decision i do not believe in nor want. are you telling me I have to follow your beliefs and will be persecuted if I dont?  do you expect me to believe that that is not voter intimidation? it is. you stated quite clearly that the only way i can keep from having my personal info posted for any psycho to get, is to change my system of beliefs and adapt them to what you (a person committing a crime) believe in. you are telling me that in order to maintain my privacy, i have to follow the orders of a criminal.

@JoeArpaioFan your words skippy   "Well, I am not forcing anybody to ask that their name be removed. its their choice."   but you putting that info out there in the first place and telling them to call you and change their vote is exactly that. you are forcing people.  ILLEGAL!  you are breaking laws  and pulling voter intimidation and coercion Robert. why do you feel you are exempt from the law?

@JoeArpaioFan  you are now refusing to answer the question. that tells me you will not and that proves you are guilty of voter intimidation, coercion and also of trying to force people to vote your way. you are breaking the law Robert. just because someone else did it does not make it okay for you to do it. if that were true, i would be able to roam the streets able to kill people who disagree with me, just because others have done it. you are a hypocrite and a idiot Robert. Joe has ignored crimes against children, mismanaged money, abused civil rights, condoned the death and abuse of people who have never even been before a judge to be deemed guilty or innocent, can i do that too? i should be able to according to you. they did it so i should be able to also. why should people have to ask you to not  post personal info? personal means it is their confidential info and not something they want every person to know. why arent you posting all of your personal info too? is it because you dont feel its everyone elses business? why is it okay for you to violate their privacy, but you dont have to let people into your life? (by the way, i think RobertGrahamcracker  nailed it on your info......you are protesting way too much for a guy who has nothing to hide)

@JoeArpaioFan so if my name is one of the ones you posted and i ask you to remove it, but i want to keep my political choice what it is, you will remove it? if you say no, that is coercion, intimidation and a form of blackmail
