J.J. Putz Blows . . . Another Save, Diamondbacks Lose to Giants, 2-1
That fourth blown save, came last night as Putz tossed a meatball to San Francisco Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval, who cranked out a two-run homer to give the Giants a 2-1 lead in the ninth inning.

This, after starter Trevor Cahill pitched eight full innings without giving up a run, after he was pulled after letting up a single to Angel Pagan -- who scored on the Sandoval homer.
The score was tied at zero entering the bottom of the eighth inning, as Madison Bumgarner had allowed just three hits over his seven innings of work, all singles.
The first batter Giants reliever Santiago Casilla faced was infielder Josh Wilson, who hit an unlikely solo homer to start off the bottom of the eighth.
That homer was spoiled by Putz's MLB-leading fifth blown save, although the Diamondbacks ended up winning the other four games in which Putz blew the lead.
Not this time -- in the ninth, Giants closer Sergio Romo quickly struck out Paul Goldschmidt, got Cody Ross to pop out in the infield, and Miguel Montero grounded out to end the game.
Brandon McCarthy takes the hill for the Diamondbacks tonight against Tim Lincecum, as the Diamondbacks try to avoid being swept in this three-game series at Chase Field. So far, McCarthy's 0-3 with an ERA of 7.48.
