According to court documents previously obtained by New Times, Nehrenz was driving his white Toyota pickup truck near 19th Avenue and Bell Road on a Saturday afternoon in October 2011 when he hit the kid rollerblading across a crosswalk.

Nehrenz drove off, but witnesses followed him, and he didn't make it too far before the cops caught up with him.

Nehrenz pleaded guilty to endangerment and misdemeanor DUI, and his jail sentence started today, according to a Maricopa County Superior Court spokeswoman.

Are you fucking kidding me??????

45 days for DUI, Hitting and injuring a minor AND leaving the scene of an accident?????

What a crock of shit!

Show me 1 instance of someone who is not a public servant getting this kind of sentence for the same thing!

Public servants and officials should be held to a higher standard like 2x mandatory sentencing - so sick and tired of 2 sets of rules.

Misdemeanor, huh? The totality of his crimes should have easily equaled a serious felony... DUI resulting in a major injury to a person, then hit and run. Six months in the pokey minimum. Not to mention license suspension, fines, liability for the victim's medical care and treatment for substance abuse. The article didn't mention whether he apologized to the vic.

The only thing that fire fighter did was leave the scene. It was the kids fault for darting out into the  cross walk  when he had a no crossing signal and he and I which was a car length behind him . we both had a green signal. I was behind him and show the whole thing. I chaced him!!!!   the kids fault!!!! His two friends sure didn't do the same thing.. they also failed to say about the other car that had to slam on his brake and the kid slid off his hood and continued to cross when he wasn't suppose to.THE KIDS FAULT FOR THE ACCENDENT!!!!! THE KID SHUOLD GET JAIL TIME FOR CAUSING A ACCENDENT!!!!!!!!

@Flyer9753 This happens all the time in Phoenix. I don't know wtf is wrong with the judges but they constantly let hit and run / diu people off with a slap on the wrist.
