Paul Goldschmidt hit his eighth and ninth home runs of the year as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2, completing a three-game sweep. The D-backs first baseman wound up with four homers and nine RBI in the series.

Starting pitcher Wade Miley (3-1) outdueled the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw, perhaps the best pitcher in the National League, by going 7.2 innings, giving up two earned runs on seven hits. He also struck out four batters. Kershaw nearly matched him pitch-fo-pitch, going seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits. It was reliever Kenley Jansen who served up Goldschmidt's game-winning home run in the eighth inning. Heath Bell shut down the Dodgers in the ninth for his first save as a D-back. Bell was given the job after J.J. Putz went on the disabled list with a bum elbow.

The D-backs return home today to host the Philadelphia Phillies in a four-game series. Phillies ace Cole Hamels, who will take the mound today, has been anything but ace-like to open the season. The 2008 World Series MVP is 1-4 with a 4.34 earned-run average. For the home team, Patrick Corbin will attempt to go to 5-0 on the season. He's been nothing short of remarkable in his second major-league season, posting a 1.80 ERA in the 40 innings he's pitched.

First pitch: 6:40 p.m. TV: Fox Sports Arizona. Radio: KTAR 620 AM. More info: www.dbacks.com
