Phoenix Mercury Draft Brittney Griner, Who Probably Should Have Been Drafted by the Suns

Brittney Griner
For what it's worth, the biggest name in women's basketball was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury Monday.

Baylor's Brittney Griner was taken with the first overall pick in the WNBA draft, meaning she's probably unlikely to be drafted by the pathetic Phoenix Suns.

As you may know, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said -- likely for publicity purposes -- that he'd consider having his team draft Griner.

Dallas will probably miss the playoffs, but if you think of a team terrible enough to actually consider having Griner play for them, well, just consider the basement-dwelling Suns.

Take a look at Griner flat-out dominating some women. It couldn't be that bad, if you've seen a Suns game recently.

Matthew, how about just a, "Hey Brittney, welcome to Phoenix."  While the Suns suck and appear absolutely directionless with no likelihood of improvement anytime soon, Griner is a tremendous young athlete and it's unfortunate that you took the draft as an opportunity to denigrate the Suns instead of simply celebrating her accomplishments as a number one draft choice or celebrating the Mercury for (though sucking horribly last year) drafting her.    The Suns last game is tomorrow - that will be the perfect opportunity to go on and on about how badly the Suns suck and how hard it will be for them to use free agency this summer to actually get better.
