Dejuan Donaldson, the man accused of raping three girls between the ages of 10 and 17 who were walking to schools in south Phoenix neighborhoods in 2010 and 2011, will be going to prison for a long time.

For the sexual assaults, Donaldson earned himself 51 1/2 years in prison -- and he won't be eligible for early release, according to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

Phoenix police said that Donaldson -- who was 18 at the time of his arrest, in May 2011 -- attacked his first victim, a 10-year-old girl, on November 22, 2010.

The girl was walking to school near 15th Avenue and Southern when she was dragged into a vacant home and raped at knife-point before she was released, police said.

The second attack, on January 10, 2011, wasn't too far from the first attack.

Police said a 12-year-old girl was taken in that case and sexually assaulted at the same home.

The third attack was on April 25, 2011, when 17-year-old South Mountain High School student was forced into a vacant home near Seventh Street and Baseline Road and sexually assaulted.

Although police said DNA from each of the three victims' bodies linked Donaldson to the crimes -- and one of his fingerprints was found on a victim's phone -- his family and then-pregnant girlfriend tried to say Donaldson was framed.

Donaldson's mother ended up spending a little more than a month in jail after Donaldson wrote her a letter about a plot to kidnap a prosecutor, a member of his family, as well as Phoenix police detectives, and a defense attorney. Donaldson's mother, Charise Michelle Donaldson Hatchett pleaded guilty to a charge after police heard Donaldson and his mother talking about the plot.

In addition to all of that, while Donaldson was in jail, police also intercepted letters he sent to his father and girlfriend, detailing a plan to kidnap and torture a Phoenix cop until he "confessed" to Donaldson's innocence, before Donaldson would kill him.

Donaldson earned almost 20 years in sentences for his murder plots, but those will run concurrently with the sex crimes.
