Better Chance of Becoming Governor: Andrew Thomas or Clifford the Big Red Dog?

Categories: Morning Poll

Clifford the Big Red Dog (left) and Andrew Thomas.
Disbarred, disgraced, and apparently delusional former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas has actually filed to run for governor in 2014.

"Candy" Andy still insists he did absolutely nothing wrong, although the county just added $1.4 million to the taxpayers' $5 million tab for Thomas' and Sheriff Joe Arpaio's "unholy collaboration" in their power-abusing fights against county political enemies.

Thomas' abuse of power also led to a three-member disciplinary panel of the Arizona State Supreme Court agreeing to his disbarment. Thomas still maintains it's still everyone else who's corrupt, not him.

The problem for Thomas is that no rational person believes that.

To that point, who do you think has a better chance of becoming the next Governor of Arizona, Thomas, or Clifford the Big Red Dog, famous for his role in the children's book series and television show named after him?

A monkey or a flying pig has a better chance of winning the Governor's Office than thrice-disgraced, corrupt, narcissistic and mentally sick Thomas.

90% say that Clifford has a better chance, but we are talking about Arizona where there must be something very wrong with the water.  After all, the people of Arizona elected GED Jan Brewer, racist Russel Pierce, and Joe Arpayaso.

All this is, is a money grab for the Clean Elections $$$'s to use on his legal fees among other things = cash flow. Over $750,000, almost one million $$$'s,  is a lot of money. How to waste taxpayers scarce money on disgraced, disbarred DA's / County Attorneys /prosecutors.

There needs to be an option to choose "Andrew Thomas: Because Arizona voters are generally retarded."

I am supporting Clifford the Big Red Dog! He has to be a democrat. Pro-education, pro-children, pro-fun with dogs!

IF he wins the primary all bets are off.  Way, way, way, way too many people in this state vote party line and his chances then do increase.  This is the same guy who still pulled in over 250k votes in Maricopa County alone just a few years ago.

Of course, the primary is where it should all end.  However, when looking at the loons that are the current AZGOP leadership, there may well be strong support for him there and that could mean a lot.

Hey, Az elected Jan Brewer to a 2nd term and keeps electing Arpaio. Nothing would surprise me anymore.

Considering this is Arizona, and the people I've seen the voters elect in the last 30 years, I'd say Candy Andy is a shoe in.

Don't dismiss any candidate's chance of winning an election - especially in Arizona.  While he shouldn't win, being dismissive of his candidacy creates a complacancy that could allow him to do just that.

The problem is we are the State that re-elected Brewer, so who knows?

Absolutely. In the state that elected Brewer and Arpaio, 'yes, we can.'

I have actually had to debate someone about Thomas. They back him 100% which had me shaking my head.

@shadeaux14:

Remember Jan Brewer's "Brain Fart" during her only debate, ,then she refused to do any more debates for fear her brain may fall out of her head, yet she was elected by the vast Arizona wave of "Latterday Bigotry".

Thomas could ride the same wave of Bigotry.

Candy should have gotten Jail time, not simply disbarred.

@DNichols Thomas should have gotten prison time.

Texas: Ex-Prosecutor Charged With Hiding Evidence
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESSPublished: April 19, 2013
"A former district attorney should face criminal contempt and tampering charges over the prosecution of an innocent man who spent nearly 25 years in prison, a judge ruled on Friday. The former prosecutor, Ken Anderson, was in the courtroom when Judge Louis Sturns issued the ruling and ordered his arrest, and he turned himself in afterward. Judge Sturns found that there was sufficient evidence that Mr. Anderson should be tried on three charges for his handling of the case against the wrongly imprisoned man, Michael Morton: criminal contempt of court, tampering with evidence and tampering with government records. He said Mr. Anderson concealed the availability of exculpatory evidence. " excerpt.
