Congressman Andrew Walter?
Former Arizona State University quarterback Andrew Walter wants to be a congressman.

Walter, a Republican, would have to beat out the rest of the Republican field, then presumably defeat Democratic Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema to do so.

Walter's candidacy was first reported by the Arizona Capitol Times, and it's true, according to Walter's filing with the Federal Election Commission.

We don't know what Walter's all about, but we're pretty sure he's not the best ASU quarterback for the job. Of course, we're talking about Rudy Carpenter. Consult the following table we made in Microsoft Paint:

It looks like the slight edge goes to Carpenter here.

That said, we'll see how serious Walter gets about his run.

Until then, we'll leave you with this:

Too much of a george w bush apologist. The last canidate from the GOP to run in CD9 was that kind of person too and they were rejected. He can run but the district is just not into that kind of canidate.

I've actually heard a lot of good things about Andrew Walter.  A lot better than that confused, "Russell Pearce is my boss" Democrat Kyrsten Sinema.

He's from the fringe of the Tea Party. He was the keynote speaker at the Tempe Chamber of Commerce luncheon last year. He went completely off the rails, with angry, disjointed Glen Beck-style rants, repeatedly comparing Obama to Marx and telling the audience to turn the country over to Jesus. Actual quote: "Government is not the source of your salvation, God is."

In a room full of very pro-business folks, everyone was embarrassed. No one could tell if he was legitimately unstable or if he was just creating controversy to draw attention to his new business.

I heard some interesting things about him while he was at ASU..not good either. Have to see if any of it comes out during the campaign

It seems that Walter had some serious head injuries in his football days.  We need to better protect young players who are unable to protect themselves.
