Arizona Cardinals Quarterback Rumor of the Day -- Geno Smith: Yay or Nay?

Categories: Morning Poll
Geno Smith
After an entire week without an almost-credible rumor involving a quarterback and the Arizona Cardinals, another one has popped up.

ESPN's Todd McShay did his third mock NFL draft, and has West Virginia's Geno Smith going to the Cards with the seventh overall pick.

Smith might be the top quarterback in the draft, but that might not be saying much, since the current crop of quarterback looks pretty weak.

That said, New Times readers haven't really liked anyone at quarterback. Reader polls said no to Tim Tebow, Matt Cassel, and Matt Barkley. Readers said yes to Alex Smith, but he was traded to Kansas City a few hours after we posted the poll.

Current Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb is left as the readers' top choice, as a little more than 54 percent of readers said they wanted to keep Kolb at the starting quarterback spot.

So, how do you like the sound of Geno Smith as the Cardinals quarterback?

With the success that rookie and second year QBs had last year (think RG3, Andrew Luck), the Cardinals are going to try to jump on that bandwagon and, as always, come up a day late and a dollar short.

This kid's Jr. & Sr. stat lines are amazing:

2011 13GM 346–526 4385YDS 65.8% 31TD 7INT  2012 13GM 369–518 4205YDS 71.2% 42TD 6INT

Too good for the cards probably
