Border Patrol Arrests in Arizona Lowest in Nearly Two Decades

Categories: Border Disorder

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say the last year Border Patrol apprehended fewer people than last year was almost two decades ago.

The 124,631 "apprehensions" by Border Patrol in Arizona in 2012 is the lowest number in 19 years, and the agency says that's how they measure attempted border crossings.

In plain English, according to CBP, fewer people are trying to cross the border.

CBP gives credit to "historic levels of personnel, technology, and resources the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has dedicated to the Southwest border under this Administration."

The Associated Press reports that there were also more Border Patrol agents in the state (5,100) last year, than at any other point.

That would appear consistent with at least one study that found that the number of unauthorized Mexican immigrants in the United States might actually be decreasing.

On the other hand, it looks like the results from CBP are mixed in other states -- both California and New Mexico had decreases in apprehensions last year, but Texas didn't. Border Patrol apprehended 118,911 people in 2011, and 172,335 in 2012.

If Border Border Patrol arrests are really down maybe wetbacks are finally geting the message that they are not welcome here.  But MCSO's arrests are up and will continue to climb. If you didn't believe what I told you last week, here it is:

@JoeArpaioFan so the folks in my family who were born and raised here, who's family have lived here for 9 generations are not welcome here?

JoseAssFarts, The reason that the MCSO cartel  arrest are up is because his Ring Leader "Nickel Bag Jose" goes around like a bitch in heat arresting innocent people and probably making up charges as he goes so he can get the money from the Feds, the more "illegals" he arrests the more money he gets and probably it goes to his checking accounts averseas where they are secure, or maybe he stash it right up his hole since nobody dares to go in there but Jaffy, tha's why he is so fat. MORON.

@JoeArpaioFan  Arrests may be down due to more evil chicanery by the socialist tin pot dictator ObaMao and his equally corrupt minions John Morton and "Crappy Nappy" Napolitano. Seems the ICE union is suing that subversive pack of so-called "progressives" over numerous executive orders that have prevented officers from enforcing immigration violations, creating a system in which even the 9/11 hijackers would not have been arrested. @bajarat @JoeArpaioFan you just can't stand the fact that folks you don't like are getting the job you said they can'd do done.

bajarat, sometimes is better to let people think that someone is stupid, but once that someone speaks, it proves how stupid reallt is. You must be Jaffy's relative, or work with him at BK.

@danzigsdaddy @JoeArpaioFan JAF is kinda like that boil on your ass that you just can't drain.  It is irritating, but medically harmless.

I do wish he would find a love interest other than the Joke.  Maybe then he would settle into his silk panties and stay away from his keyboard.

That's bad.  This only means there are a bunch of really bored and trigger-happy border agents.

Hey Hendley - How politically correct, "unauthorized Mexican immigrants". Not "illegals" or "spics" or "wetbacks". (none of which are terms I would use either). I guess it just shows that you feel that undocumented immigrants are worthy of greater respect than individuals with obesity issues. I guess you can use professional and dignified journalistic language when you choose to, can't you? Tell us, though, how do you pick and choose who gets respectful language and who gets disrespectful playground slurs? Is it political affiliation? Is it institutional bias? Is it that Chritie is a Repub so he is shit but "undocumented Mexican immigrants" are the cause de jur of the New Times? Help us understand Hendley so we can pay along with your little word games

@JohnQ.Public He is still in the apprentice stage under Lemons, so must follow the Party line.

I have no issue with words like "illegal" or "wetback" or similar terms.  But, Hendley is still only permitted to write those stories until he gets to Stage 2.  God only knows what that will entail for us.

@bob_lablaw96 you should have a significant issue with those words. They are insulting and dehumanizing and have no place in the discussion. They do nothing to elevate the discourse in any way. To the contrary, they drag the discussion into the gutter. Don't ever think that you and I are on the same side of the issue if you have "no issue" with those words.

Let me make it clear, I would never use any of those derogatory terms and it made me uncomfortbale to use them in this comment, but I felt that the comparison was needed for emphasis and to make the point.

Could the small increase in illegal border crossings be an indicator of Texas being more business-friendly than California? When he's not drunk, Rick Perry may want to analyze this.
