Who Should Investigate the Employers Who Hire Undocumented Workers?

Sheriff Joe Arpaio
As the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office pulled off its 70th "employer sanctions operation" -- which MCSO now refers to as a "criminal employment operation -- we pointed out yet again that no employers were arrested, or sanctioned, in the operation.

It was revealed last week in a federal court filing that Sheriff Joe Arpaio admits that no employer has ever been arrested or tied to any violations as a result of these operations.

After that 70th raid, Arpaio claimed that sanctioning employers is the job of the Obama administration, although he had publicly claimed that his own operations were supposed to target those who hire the undocumented workers.

"The federal government may want to look into expanding the guest worker program and streamlining the ability to get a visa," Arpaio says in a recent press release. "Also the Obama administration should focus their efforts in detecting and arresting the employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens."

Somehow, this line is also from that same press release: "In the meanwhile, Arpaio will continue to enforce state and federal immigration laws."

So, who do you think should investigate the employers who hire undocumented workers?

Arizona spent a huge amount of our money to defend the Employer Sanctions Law all the way to the Supreme Court just so Arpaio and his crew of boot licking political whores could boost their campaigns. What a crying shame.

It would be good if an investigation is conducted on the Shurf, try to find out why everybody seems to be afraid to the point of letting him do all the shit he does, an audit at MCSO is overdue also. BTW, if the idiot is conduction the "Sanctions Employers Operations" he should arrest the employers that KNOWINGLY HIRE the "Illegals", but "Nickel bag Joe" wouldn't do that, KNOWING that upsetting those amployers it'll result on no donations. It's easier to go for the "Nickel bag" user than the Dealer, there's minimal risk, And he calls himself "The toughest Shurf" I would say "The most corrupt Shurf".

so with Joe exercising selective enforcement of the law, maybe the people he is after arent doing anything wrong......they are following his lead and practicing selective adherence of the law. as long as they obey one law, none of the others really matter

Why is this an either/or question.  They both have responsibility for investigating employers for illegal hiring practice.  Hiring illegal aliens violates federal immigration law as well as state law.  Employers hire illegal aliens in order to pay less and provide fewer benefits to their employees, thus depressing wages for the entire market and making it incredibly challenging for honest employers to compete.  Employers that hire illegal immigrants should be sanctioned and, if meeting the criteria of IRCA, arrested and prosecuted.

fast, free and easy to use.. you work for E-Verify?

I thought that was what E-Verify was for!?!? E-Verify is an Internet-based system that allows businesses to determine the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States. E-Verify is fast, free and easy to use – and it’s the best way employers can ensure a legal workforce.

if you have trash in your yard that is attracting animals, do you A) chase away only the dogs that are in at the trash. B) erect a fence that the dogs can still find a way around.  or C) remove the trash that is attracting the dogs? the correct answer is "C" . so in this case you would impose sanctions that keep people from hiring the illegals. Joe unfortunately is stuck on "A" and Brewer is stuck on "B". none of the solutions by themselves are 100% effective (and some by themselves are not effective by themselves) of all the answers "C" is the most effective and when combined with the others is highly effective. that is simple logic, and that puts it beyond Arpaio or Brewer's comprehension

It's not always easy to prove who hired the illegal workers but it's easy to prove who is working illegally.

And who should investigate the illegal wetbacks who work for those employers thus stealing jobs from American citizens?  If the issue at hand were the employers being arrested instead of the employees you'd scream foul too so why even bring it up?  You should be thankful the employers aren't being arrested too. I wonder how many illegals' Phoenix New Times employs? I think it's time for an investigation and if illegals are found to be working there arrest their employer.

@Nick A Thomas Long before that, there is also the I-9 which MUST be filled out for new employees.

@danzigsdaddy Apparently you didn't read "C".  It says "No one. The businesses should get a pass."

Which is both sensible and cheap.

by implementing only "A" we start racking up money we have to pay out. we pay for housing, we pay for shipping people out of the country and we do it all on the taxpayers cuff. with "B" we rack up an even higher cost to the taxpayer and neither of those options are effective by themselves (and even combined they are not a deterrent). both of them require extensive amounts of manpower to do, "C" however, IS a deterrent and and is funded by the people breaking the law and causing some of the problem. both "A" and "B" are just "busy work" that make you look like you are doing something but have little if any impact on the problem

@Fore Let me finish this for you...

"All taken by old retired U.S. citizens or golf pros or nice looking ladies, or young lads who haul golf bags, or in some cases, legally documented workers doing landscaping for normal labor wages"... Not to mention, the older folks who charge the batteries on the carts.

Jaffy, I think that you are the same as Studboi, talking shit about the Illegals while you are living with one of them behind Arpayaso's back, You know what I'm talking about, bitch. BTW I have your IP address and I'm gonna send it to the FBI for them to investigate you so you stop making threats. meanwhile I hope you get AIDS and die.

@JoeArpaioFan The proof has to be "intent, with knowledge that the applicant is NOT legally entitled to gainful employment, and hires the applicant with that knowledge". Or something similar. So, if the employer knowingly hires, or conspires to hire, someone known to that employer as being undocumented then the employer may face civil and perhaps criminal santions.

Yes, JAF, proving someone is in the United States illegally is not that tough, which is exactly why the MCSO shurf goes after those folks instead of the employer. He just uses the employer sanctions law as his catalyst for these raids to garner attention for himself.

Tie a bow on a pig and you have a pig wearing a bow. The shurf wears all the bows he can tie on himself and he's still a pig.

@JoeArpaioFan Uh, if there is an illegal working for a small business, who hired the illegal?   Per Jaffy, it must have been the tooth fairy, and not the person in charge!

@WhoKnows @JoeArpaioFan Jaffy is part of the Arpaio Internet Disinformation Squad (AIDS).  When Arpaio croaks it will be really interesting to see how AIDS works - how many people, what hours, the types of equipment, the cost.  It will all come out.

Not to mention how law enforcement tools were used to find Arpaio detractors and arrest them.

What?  You say Joe would never do that?  I think we all very well know better.  And there are lots of payouts to demonstrate that behavior to the poor suckers who are Maricopa County taxpayers.

Tommy_Collins

@WhoKnows @JoeArpaioFan I don't really believe JAF works at Burger King. I think perhaps Mr. Lemons was exaggerating with that line. I think JAF either works for a local weekly media outlet or is a public information employee at MCSO. His/her postings are consistently intended to stir mush and gain replies. Not to mention time of day and day of week of his/her activity really does preclude normal fast food employment. Just a thought...

@bobunf Bob, you and I understand the depth of the corruption at MCSO, and the County of Maricopa, as well. So few of the voters really have a clue...

@JohnQ.Public @Tommy_Collins @WhoKnows @JoeArpaioFan i honestly think its hendershitts kid, who makes over 100k in the IT dept for MCSO.  New times could just look at their server and see the IP address and figure out if its an MCSO one or not...lol they have shown to be quite lazy covering their tracks in the past, wouldnt surprise me if it could be easily found..

@Tommy_Collins @WhoKnows @JoeArpaioFan I've been thinking that for awhile.   Sometimes I get the impression a social media coordinator at a local PR firm is being paid to defend Arpaio on this blog and is behind this "user" and other similar users.  Othertimes, I get the impression that its just a moron acting like a moron.
