1. ALWAYS assume a firearm is loaded unless you yourself verify it is empty.

2. NEVER point a firearm at anything you are not willing to destroy or kill.

3. NEVER place your finger on the trigger until you have your target in sight and are prepared to fire.

ANY of these simple rules would have saved this child's life.... and I say child because he didn't have the intelligence to know better. He had the legal right to be stupid but didn't show the maturity to be considered an adult.

Second comment: as an employer, this is the reason I do social media searches on all my potential hires. And I have excluded a handful of people for pages just like this.

I often hear of people saying that they disagree with employers viewing their Facebook or Twitter accounts, but I'd be doing the same thing if I was in a position to hire someone. You never post anything online that you wouldn't want someone to use against you later. It is plain and simple. A lot of people don't understand that. Common sense, folks.

Did you happen to see his sister's Facebook page? She has it as "Public" for whatever reason. The way that girl spells things in her posts would be enough for me to delete her. How annoying. You're not 10 years old - spell things like an adult and use proper punctuation.

I bet his sister will be charged with his death for neglegent homicide. Guns aren't toys and you don't look "cool" when posing in a photo with a gun. And why in the hell would you put a gun to your head? Loaded or NOT, you just don't fucking do that. That phrase comes to mind - "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes." We have a winner folks.

I hope everyone learns a lesson from this story. Guns aren't toys. You treat every firearm as if it is loaded even when you know it isn't. Make that a habit. When someone hands you a firearm, you visual inspect it yourself to be absolutely certain that it is NOT loaded.

@teknik @ptcgaz these people do NOT buy guns legally use your brain people, guns sold in AZ have all had one round fired and the ballistics for that round entered into the DPS ( i think ) database then when a shooting occurs they can easily compare the casings to those on file and go knock on the original buyers door. These guys are not going to be using guns that can be traced back to them they are gang bangers.
