A 26-year-old Mexican national is apparently a new record-holder in the world of marijuana smuggling.

According to Customs and Border Protection, nobody's been caught with this much marijuana at an Arizona port of entry -- more than 14,000 pounds.

CBP hasn't released the name of the man, nor any charges he's facing, if any, but the agency says in a statement that he's been turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.

According to CBP, the man -- a Nogales, Mexico, resident -- attempted to drive the load through the Mariposa Port of Entry on a 1994 International tractor-trailer.

Officers selected the man for inspection, and the marijuana was found in 600 bales, hidden in cardboard boxes among what was supposed to look like a legitimate load of steel.

CBP estimates the value of the weed between $7 million and $12 million.

The previous record for failed marijuana smuggling into Arizona was cited as a 2010 bust, when officers recovered 12,000 pounds.

Go big or go home....or in this guys case, go big and go to jail.

Smuggling should become a capital offense.  In this case no trial is necessary because the wetback was caught red-handed with the drugs.  Agents should have violently yanked him from his vehicle and shot him in the back of the head in front of everybody.  I think that would quickly send the clear message to everybody that smuggling will not be tolerated.

JAF, I have your IP address and I'm forwarding it to the FBI so they have a little talk to you, seems like you are inciting violence, I hope they drag you out of Arpayaso office and at the same time they get Arpayaso too, since he is harboring a probable felon. And since this IP address seems to belong to MCSO, the better.

@JoeArpaioFan Welcome to Indonesia where they just sentenced a British grandmother to death by firing squad for allegedly smuggling coke onto the island of Bali.  You'd fit right into with those uber-conservative Muslim judges that handed down this death sentence.  Is that really the company that you want to keep?

@donotrecall Me inciting violence, HA!  Better take a good look at yourself because you are inciting anarchy but have you ever heard of free speech or do you just thing your speach is protected?  And really, how did you get my IP address?  Because it is not displayed here I guess you are either psychic or you are one of those New Times nutjobs in disguise.  Go ahead though because the FBI would only laugh at you.  Good luck you idiot!

@JohnQ.Public @JoeArpaioFan But you fail to realize that my proposal would work.  So, are you all for drug smuggling and imprisoning the smugglers at a big expense to taxpayers?  I also think rapists and murders should be executed on the spot but I'm sure you don't think that is a good idea either do you?

@JoeArpaioFan"how did you get my IP address?" I got it, too. You're really not very smart. You should expect a visit by the REAL police soon.
