Joe Arpaio Says MCSO Doesn't Do "Raids," but Arpaio Touts Today's "Raid" of a Supermarket

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office does not conduct "raids," according to Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Although we've provided evidence to the contrary of Arpaio's new claim, the Sheriff's public-relations staff sent out an e-mail this afternoon, with a press release touting MCSO's 70th "employer sanctions operation." The subject line on that e-mail: "Maricopa County Sheriff's Office ID Theft Raid at Lam's Supermarket."

Earlier this week, we told you that lawyers for Sheriff Joe Arpaio filed a response to the Justice Department's racial-discrimination lawsuit, and among the denials of the accusations, Arpaio denied the existence of MCSO "raids" -- several times.

raids-mcso.jpg

The press release itself doesn't contain the word "raid," but we found three that did in about 30 seconds earlier this week, and it came through on today's subject line, although, according to Arpaio, a "raid" is certainly nothing the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office would engage in.

For added effect, the press release notes that the Criminal Employment Squad (the "CES" mentioned in the denials above) was the unit that raided -- or totally didn't raid -- Lam's Asian and International Supermarket in Maryvale today.

Of the 27 employees that the store hires in total, 21 of them are suspected of using fake IDs to work there, according to the press release. They were ratted out by a former employee.

Now, after 70 "employer sanctions operations"/"criminal employment operations"/"raids," or whatever else you want to call it, 684 people have been arrested.

No employer has ever been arrested or tied to any violations as a result of these operations, Arpaio admitted in the above-mentioned response to the Justice Department lawsuit.

I have a question. what is keeping these employers from advertising in Mexico for labor and having Joe come and take the employees when they start to ask for raises or once you owe them so much? you wont get in any trouble whatsoever, and you dont have anybody coming to pick up their last checks. and then when that crew is gone, hiring another crew of illegals to replace the one who just got deported. they wouldnt have to hire any citizens or offer the jobs to any US citizens either. they wont be the ones villified or in any trouble, the employees would. the employer santion operations are making that possible

@danzigsdaddy Thats exactly whats going on now, except that some are being diverted into the prison system. Unfortunately, most voters are too blind to see it,nice little racket they have going on.

If you want to support Arpaio and his employer sanction operations, answer me this: why did we take out Osama Bin Laden? he didnt take over the planes, his people did.  Answer: because he is the one who set these people into action and enabled them to do what they did. if we did not stop Osama, he would have sent more of them. the same would apply to Joe's employer sanction moves. if we do not stop the people hiring the illegals.....once they are arrested, they will just get more. what Joe is doing by ignoring the employers (ignoring them like they were El Mirage rapists) he is just enabling them to hire more. so basically, all Joe is doing with his EMPLOYEE sanctions is perpetuating the problem. all he is accomplishing with his moves is, creating job security by maintaining a problem that could be corrected. so if you want to put a dent in immigration, tell Joe to do the job he says he is going to do......EMPLOYER not EMPLOYEE sanctions

@danzigsdaddy This is not about Osama Bin Laden. This is about what's legal and not legal. What part about ID THEFT IS ILLEGAL don't you understand?  The raids or whatever they are called is an operation to remove ID thiefs from the workforce. Those ID thieves open up jobs for American workers.

I love how people take Joe's defense by saying "they are stealing American jobs" ......you cant steal something if people are just giving it to you.   If someone is just giving away drugs, does that make it legal?

JoeArpaioFan
JoeArpaioFan topcommenter

@danzigsdaddy Regardless if the jobs are given to them or not or whether or not the employers know they are illegal aliens does not mean its okay.  The fact is illegal aliens do steal jobs from Americans.  Get that through your thick skull and stop denying reality.

For all of you who think it is perfectly okay for illegal aliens to steal ID's and work here, how about if your job is taken from you and given to an illegal alien? Let's see how you'd like it then when you are sitting on the unemployment line.

Wait until you see what the next raid will be. It's going to be a big one.  So keep slamming Joe and he will keep showing you who's boss.

the way those employer sanctions raids work with Joe is kinda like playing "peek-a-boo" with a little baby. when Joe makes the raid, the employers close the office door and WAH-LAH!!! "peek-a-boo....Joe no see you" the same thing worked for Rocky Marquez. he walked out the door and TAA-DAA MCSO no see you......

How can Ava live with this fucking corrupt criminal, seems like She might be harboring a "Posible felon",you know; 100 millions "misapropiated", -which maybe went into paying all the ones that took the fall for the Old POS in the Munell Memo, which BTW, I wouldn't doubt beign a document redacted by the Old Fool and company- second set of books, racial profiling, deaths at "His" jails without any investigations conducted, etc.

About the "Employer Sanctions Ops", the corrupt shurf wouldn't want to kill the golden eggs goose by arresting the employers, the more "illegals an Employer gets, the more arrest he makes, the more money he gets. He might be working a deal with the employers, you know; when the "illegals" had worked for certain time and are about to qualify for insurance benefits all of a sudden a disgruntled ex-employee calls the shurf, eazy way for the employer to get rid of them and at the same time the Old Fart get his cut. That fucking bullshit that is hard for the employers to know who might be an "Illegal" worker, it just the most stupid excuse A never ending cycle of coruption.

@comrade The only felons are the people Joe arrests.  In case you did not know it, identity theft is a crime. It is against the law to use somebody elses ID to work. In fact just being an illegal alien is against the law.  I bet that if all the raids involved illegal Canadians or Nigerians or Chinese people instead, you wouldn't even bat an eye.  But when it comes to Hispanics you think they are exempt from following the law.  Well, screw you!

When the local shurf picks the low hanging fruit there is no need for a ladder, or much effort, for that part. So, the old man ordered a raid, but not really a raid. A kinda, sorta, not quite raid, but only in the context that the raid was only due to the exuberance of the deputies conducting the roundup. Wait, they don't do roundups while conducting raids, either. So, the were out doing selective enforcment that seemed a bit like a raid, but was actually a roundup, but not really, it was kind of a raid, but more of a roundup, but might have been selective enforcement.

So, now that this is settled they are proud to announce that they made some sleazy arrests today. The kind of arrests that most real cops go out of their way to avoid, unless a serious crime is involved.

Arp's Raiders.

Yep, there's a line of folks wanting to join that wild bunch.

I feel badly for the professionals as MCSO who have to work for this old asshole.

@JoeArpaioFan @Tommy_Collins You mean like when ICE sets it's enforcement priorities and selects which illegal aliens it will selectively prioritize for enforcement?

so Joe has made 70 employer sanctions raids.....oops sorry "OPERATIONS", and in all of these raid......er..i mean "OPERATIONS", he found that there was a problem and they were hiring illegals, but he couldnt find his way to the front office to arrest the person that his whole raid....dammit, i mean"OPERATION" was put in effect to catch???? well then maybe it is a good thing he never investigated any of the El Mirage sex crimes....if he did he probably would have arrested the victims

JoeArpaioFan

@danzigsdaddy Regardless if the employesr are arrested or fined, the issue at hand is it is illegal for people to steal ID's to work. Just because the employers are not fined doesn't mean that illegals have the right to illegally work here and steal American jobs.

Ok, so if my calculator is correct, when you have 70 "EMPLOYER SANCTIONS" RAIDS, and have never "sanctioned" a single EMPLOYER, you failed on 70 of 70!

MCSO does NOT perform employer sanction raids and you would have a hard time proving it. EMPLOYEE sanction raids however are another thing entirely, its all in the wording. the 2 key words being EMPLOYER and EMPLOYEE

@danzigsdaddy Zigs, please don't forget that pathological liars can't differentiate between truth and their form of fiction. The old asshole actually believes what he spews simply because he has said it, thus it has to be true. Just like a disgraced former state senate president... we all know and dislike. Also, somewhat like "headless bodies in the desert". Do you see a theme happening here?
