@jonnyquest George Washington commanded an army compromised primarily of citizens. The Second Amendment was enacted, in part, because the founding fathers didn't anticipate the country maintaining a large standing army. The alternative to a large standing army was, you guessed it, a well regulated militia in which each citizen served unless excused. Shortly after the passage of the Second Amendment Congress passed legislation requiring all able bodied men to own a serviceable weapon in order to serve in that militia. This is the origin of he Second Amendment. But since you've learned your history from the NRA you wouldn't actually know that, woul you?

@jonnyquest Actually, no they didn't.  The NRA supported a bill that banned the use of armor piercing ammo solely in the commission of a crime but would have allowed the sale of armor piercing ammo to the general public.  The NRA actively and openly opposed the ban on the manufacture and importation of armor piercing ammo for non-police and military use UNTIL they lost and it was only at that point that they tried to claim they supported a "compromise" in order to save face.  You're delusional if you think that after the 1977 NRA convention in Cincinatti when Knox and Carter took over the NRA on the floor at the convention that they would voluntarily support any type of regulation over the availability or acessability of firearms or weapons.  The post-1977  NRA leadership was as hardcore anti-regulation as they come.  The Second Amendment wasn't even an important part of the NRA's bylaws until the 1977 convention.  Dude, you don't even know the history of your own organization.

The articles I found say that the NRA was in fact instrumental in writing the law that banned the manufacture and importation of HANDGUN ammo that would penetrate body armor. Go back and read all that shit you posted yesterday. That's what it says. The reason the NRA got involved was because the draft legislation WOULD HAVE BANNED ALL RIFLE AMMUNITION! Ignorance or intent? I don't for a minute buy that highly educated lawyers didn't realize the implications. You're the one in a bubble, my friend. Come into the light. It's nice outside.

@JohnQ.Public @jonnyquest I absolutely trust a business that acts in its own interest as long as there is no government coercion on its behalf. If that business produces a product or service that I don't care for, I don't buy it. No one forces you to buy a Bushmaster AR15. People buy them because they are a good, reliable rifle. And now thanks to the President, the going price for one is $4000. The people charging those outrageous prices are the retailers not the manufacturers. When this bullshit rush is past, I hope people remember these profiteers and never buy another product from them again. That's capitalism. The thing that made America great. The thing that still brings people from all over the world in the hope that they too can make their fortune.

@jonnyquest I love it!!  Your sheep herders have you so misled that you automatically believe that anyone who disagrees with you must be an Obama loving socialist Muslim out to destroy the very fabric of our American democracy.  The reality is that this argument has nothing to do with the Second Amendment, our Constitution or our democracy.  This argument has everything to do with the almighty $$$$$$ and they have you so turned around you are completely unable to see it. 

You have a healthy distrust of government, which is good.  You also need a healthy distrust of corporate America, which the NRA and corporate gun manufacturers represent, which you don't have and you need to develop. 

At the end of the day, the people who are screaming the loudest about armor piercing rounds are the ones who stand to profit the most from manufacturing and selling them...just because they wrap themselves in the flag doesn't make them patriots.
