(Regular New Times readers, feel free to skip to the bottom of this post and cast your vote immediately.)

Local Republican blogger Political Mafioso was already questioning whether disbarred and disgraced former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas was delusional after Thomas said he was considering a run for governor, but get a load of yesterday's headline from Channel 5, KPHO: "Disbarred Thomas believes he could win governor's race."

"Candy" Andy's still bitchin' about a three-member disciplinary panel of the Arizona State Supreme Court agreeing that he abused his power, and decided on his disbarment, but he's apparently still serious about running for governor.

"During a one-on-one interview with CBS 5 News, Thomas said he was speaking out because everyone else is afraid to," KPHO's online report reads. "He also said he was speaking out as a potential candidate for governor."

Thomas told the station he thinks he could actually win a race for governor.

When you're done laughing your ass off from what Thomas told KPHO, let us know -- do you think Thomas is delusional?

I'm sure Thomas will have Arpaio's endorsement no doubt.

The pot calling the kettle black. I see the face of Lance Armstrong interviewed by Oprah -- no conscious, no soul, a hollow-less human being. The psychiatrists know what all this is.

Yes, Arizona is corrupt, but he and his cronies need to look in the mirror. Having heard and watched the months long daily disciplinary hearings on the Arizona Supreme Court website (archives), we now know who is corrupt -- the tip of the iceberg.

The independent counsel, Gleason, did an outstanding job of showing the public who is corrupt. The judge got it right except that ex- DCA, Thomas' "blogging queen" Rachel Alexander should have been disbarred as well. Her internet, blogging for "easy" convictions is there for all posterity. Same as porn that sends people to prison for life. Who was investigating that damage?

Is Joe Arpaio senile?

Is Jan Brewer stupid?

Do polar bears like the cold?

Candy Andy has NO chance of winning a political race in Arizona.

Just look at twice disgraced corrupt narcissistic and mentally sick Pearce as an example.

Couldn't be any worse than Brewer or Arpaio who are owned by the Koch Brothers... oops did I just say that???

We can also see from this poll that at least 1.32% of the Arizona population is completely delusional as well.

wtf...

Candy Andy was certainly off his meds when he and the MCSO shurf filed the bullshit RICO lawsuit alleging a grand conspiracy between county government and the judiciary.

Why would this latest round of bullshit be any different?

Is ice really frozen water?

I'm glad you gave us instructions, Mr. Hendley, to bypass the article and just vote, but I read the article anyway.

Mr. Thomas personifies delusional.

Delusional, absolutely not.

Arizona only elects the finest criminals possible. History proves that.

No, he's not delusional.  If a former securities dealer who has been banned from security trading by the SEC can be elected AG, why can't a disbarred attorney be elected governor - just as long as that candidate is declares Obama's birth certificate to be fake, proclaims state soverignty over eveything federal, and is able to fool the blue hairs into thinking that he came keep them safe from all of those evil people of color.

With the way this state is run and seeing who the majority have voted for in the past he may actually have a shot. Lack of ethics isn't a disqualified in this state (or politics in general).

Nah. As corrupt as the government is here in AZ, I'd be surprised is a squeaky-clean individual actually ran for governor...

If you look at Arizona's track record......no, he is not delusional. if he wasnt a disbarred and disgraced crook and ran?........well then he would definitely be delusional

I think him winning a primary would make it guarantied that a dem would win the governor's seat.

If 1.32% of Arizonans were delusional that would sound about right but now it is up to 2.65%.  And they read Phoenix New Times, and they still think Andrew Thomas doesn't live in his own reality bubble where he is the persecuted good guy.

@JoeArpaioFan There are Sheriffs across the country that are pledging to ignore any new Federal gun control laws, but Joe Arpaio is not among them. Now Joe is always saying his actions are just enforcing current Federal immigration laws. If the Feds pass new gun control, will Joe make raids on gun owners? Will there be gun sweeps? Will Joe's deputies pull people over because they "didn't use turn signals" and then seize any guns found during a vehicle search? Ask Joe when you get a chance.

@jonnyquest Your entire premise that new federal gun control will result in the confiscation of weapons is hyper-alarmist bullshit being fed by those who stand to make the most money off of guns, NRA executives and the gun industry.  What you don't seem to comprehend is that this entire issue is ginned up by the highly compensated executives at the NRA who's sole goal is to keep you worked up so you'll continue help them print money to put into their pockets.  You are nothing but a manipulated pawn in the fake "fight" over the second amendment.  You are the sheep being herded around by corporate executives whose sole goal is to keep you chasing shadows so you'll continue to send them money - nothing more, nothing less.

JohnQ.Public
JohnQ.Public

@jonnyquest George Washington commanded an army compromised primarily of citizens. The Second Amendment was enacted, in part, because the founding fathers didn't anticipate the country maintaining a large standing army. The alternative to a large standing army was, you guessed it, a well regulated militia in which each citizen served unless excused. Shortly after the passage of the Second Amendment Congress passed legislation requiring all able bodied men to own a serviceable weapon in order to serve in that militia. This is the origin of he Second Amendment. But since you've learned your history from the NRA you wouldn't actually know that, woul you?

JohnQ.Public
JohnQ.Public

@jonnyquest The world becomes a topsy turvey place when you learn that the delusions you've been living under are just that - delusions.

JohnQ.Public
JohnQ.Public

@jonnyquest No, but I do have relatives murdered by him. Want names, asshole? And contrary to what your sheep herders at the NRA want you to believe, Hitler expanded access to firearms (for everyone but the Jews), not restricted access to them. Stop believing everything that the NRA spoon feeds you and you will be better for it.

@JohnQ.Public @jonnyquest Night is day, black is white. Now I understand. Thank you JQP. By the way, did you read John Leonardo's explaination of the call for universal backround checks? Yeah, he said that really means gun registration. So head on down like a good doobee and register all your guns.

JohnQ.Public
JohnQ.Public

@jonnyquest Actually, no they didn't.  The NRA supported a bill that banned the use of armor piercing ammo solely in the commission of a crime but would have allowed the sale of armor piercing ammo to the general public.  The NRA actively and openly opposed the ban on the manufacture and importation of armor piercing ammo for non-police and military use UNTIL they lost and it was only at that point that they tried to claim they supported a "compromise" in order to save face.  You're delusional if you think that after the 1977 NRA convention in Cincinatti when Knox and Carter took over the NRA on the floor at the convention that they would voluntarily support any type of regulation over the availability or acessability of firearms or weapons.  The post-1977  NRA leadership was as hardcore anti-regulation as they come.  The Second Amendment wasn't even an important part of the NRA's bylaws until the 1977 convention.  Dude, you don't even know the history of your own organization.

jonnyquest
jonnyquest topcommenter

@JohnQ.Public @jonnyquest BTW JQP, google "NRA armor piercing ammunition". The articles I found say that the NRA was in fact instrumental in writing the law that banned the manufacture and importation of HANDGUN ammo that would penetrate body armor. Go back and read all that shit you posted yesterday. That's what it says. The reason the NRA got involved was because the draft legislation WOULD HAVE BANNED ALL RIFLE AMMUNITION! Ignorance or intent? I don't for a minute buy that highly educated lawyers didn't realize the implications. You're the one in a bubble, my friend. Come into the light. It's nice outside.

jonnyquest

@JohnQ.Public @jonnyquest I absolutely trust a business that acts in its own interest as long as there is no government coercion on its behalf. If that business produces a product or service that I don't care for, I don't buy it. No one forces you to buy a Bushmaster AR15. People buy them because they are a good, reliable rifle. And now thanks to the President, the going price for one is $4000. The people charging those outrageous prices are the retailers not the manufacturers. When this bullshit rush is past, I hope people remember these profiteers and never buy another product from them again. That's capitalism. The thing that made America great. The thing that still brings people from all over the world in the hope that they too can make their fortune.

JohnQ.Public
JohnQ.Public

@jonnyquest I love it!!  Your sheep herders have you so misled that you automatically believe that anyone who disagrees with you must be an Obama loving socialist Muslim out to destroy the very fabric of our American democracy.  The reality is that this argument has nothing to do with the Second Amendment, our Constitution or our democracy.  This argument has everything to do with the almighty $$$$$$ and they have you so turned around you are completely unable to see it.

You have a healthy distrust of government, which is good.  You also need a healthy distrust of corporate America, which the NRA and corporate gun manufacturers represent, which you don't have and you need to develop.

At the end of the day, the people who are screaming the loudest about armor piercing rounds are the ones who stand to profit the most from manufacturing and selling them...just because they wrap themselves in the flag doesn't make them patriots.
