Arthur Harmon, the man police say shot three people yesterday at a Phoenix office building, was found dead in the parking lot of the Bass Pro Shops store in Mesa.

Police believe he committed suicide by shooting himself.

As we suggested yesterday, Harmon is indeed the cops' suspect, and the lawsuit he's involved in definitely played some sort of role.

One of the people shot was attorney Mark Hummels, an attorney for the Osborn Maledon law firm, who was involved in the lawsuit.

The man who was killed, 48-year-old Steve Singer, was the CEO of a company called Fusion Contact Centers, which was the other party in the lawsuit.

A woman named Nichole Hampton was the third person shot.

I feel bad about what happened, it is a sad thing.  I think that the man that did this shooting was distraught over financial matters and things

I think it would be good if lawyers and criminal justice and social workers, well everyone could learn to be good listeners and recognize the signs of someone who is having some problems.  How can a company contract with someone, give them money and then expect them to give the money back (probably after they had spent it)  because they found out that the remodel could not be done?  It is not the contractor's fault that they learned after the fact that the work could not be done.

The article says that this man, Harmon, did not have a lawyer and that he was trying to represent himself against the richer company and the law firm, he was probably doing this because he didn't have any money.  It doesn't really sound like an even playing field, maybe the law should be changed so that a person in his position could be at least supplied with some legal representation.

I think it is too bad about the lawyer and the company CEO, but the answer I see is not necessarily gun control but of some kind of help for people who are having money problems and other problems.

One less attorney, looks like a public service killing.  Plus no trial for the senile office furniture salesman.

Bottom line, we lost a friend yesterday, his kids grow up without a dad, and his wife is now a widow. Senseless.......

Typical gun nut is a right-wing, middle-aged, overweight white male. Thats what. The "proverbial" (probably not the best choice of words) criminal is whatever the Just-us system likes to lock up, typically people of color and the poor. There.

And Steve, you can look in a mirror. If you defend gun nuts - you might be a gun nut

Ask the NRA what their proverbial criminal looks like

Guess this gun nut really wanted to make the motto of the NRA be fulfilled: FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!

...and what does a "proverbial criminal" look like?

Looks like a typical gun nut. Not the proverbial criminal they always want us to be afraid of

If you're gonna pull something off like that, be prepared to pay the consequences, don't kill yourself. What a fucking pussy...

Actually, Osborn Maledon's offices are at Central and Thomas.  The shooting was at the building housing the offices of the law firm of DeConcini, McDonald, Yetwin and Lacey.  An attorney at the DeConcini firm was acting as a Judge Pro Tempore for the purposes of either a mediation, settlement hearing or arbitration hearing (depending on which article you read).  Singer was a good guy who was well liked by his friends and community and his loss is a loss to our community.

its a shame. We are losing wonderful, decent people in this world today. God bless his family, as well of the shooters family.
