Worse Post-Shooting Action by an Arizona Teenager: Facebook Threat, or "Toy Gun"?

On the same day that a gunman murdered 27 people, including 20 children, in Connecticut, two Arizona teenagers made poor decisions.

One, in Gilbert, was walking on a high school campus with a "toy rifle," while the other, in Kingman, posted to Facebook that he was "down" to kill a bunch of children at school.

There's no indication that the Gilbert kid was trying to scare anyone, but he did.

Police say he was carrying the toy gun for a "school project," but one parent saw him walking with this toy, and thought it was a rifle. School administrators saw pictures taken of the kid with the toy, and phoned up the cops.

"No threats and no crime occurred," a Gilbert police spokesman said, adding that the incident's in the hands of school administrators.

Meanwhile, a Kingman teenager reportedly posted on Facebook that he was "down to go to school and kill a bunch of little kids."

A Mohave County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman says the teenager told deputies he was "being stupid and he doesn't want to harm anyone."

That case was forwarded to the county attorney for review.

This morning's question: which one was worse?

The kid who made the threat on Facebook should be referred to the mental health system.

Oh Wait, this is Arizona,

We don't have a mental health system.

Regardless if the threats were meant to be real, THEY WERE STILL THREATS and must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

@JoeArpaioFan Enlighten us Jaffy, under which statutes could these two be prosecuted.  If there were statutes covering "felony stupid" you'd already be doing life.

@JoeArpaioFan JAF talks sense... again! What's come over him? Danzigsdaddy, don't be too hard on the lad. The jerk teenager in Kingman is not going to prison. 100 hours of community service perhaps. And, of course, he'll be getting the cold shoulder from folks up there. He should probably move away asap.

@JoeArpaioFan you better think about what you are saying. you are swinging a double edged sword right now and they cut both ways. by your own statement you are declaing yourself a criminal that should not be allowed on the streets. you have made threats left and right on this site. whether or not they are real or implied innocously, they are still threats.

@JoeArpaioFan  and you throw threats out on here all the time. are you saying you need to be in prison too? maybe an institution would be appropriate

@eric.nelson745 i am not saying he is wrong, but i am saying he's a hypocrite. i am trying to tell him to watch his mouth as a civil gesture. what he is saying the kid should be locked up for is also something he does himself. i pick on him, sure, but i am also trying to help him to a degree
